Abstract: A separating clutch for a drive train of a motor vehicle includes a torque forwarding component, an outer multiple disc carrier fixed to the torque forwarding component for conjoint rotation, a first plurality of friction discs, a second plurality of friction discs arranged to transmit torque through a non-positive connection with the first plurality of friction discs, a pressing element having a first side facing the friction discs and a second side, opposite the first side, facing away from the friction discs, and a restoring spring. The pressing element is for axially displacing a one of the first or second plurality of friction discs to realize the non-positive connection, and the restoring spring contacts the pressing element for canceling the non-positive connection. The restoring spring engages through and behind the first side from the second side in a positively locking connection with the pressing element.

Abstract: A multi-plate dual clutch for coupling a motor vehicle engine to a drive shaft of a motor vehicle transmission and to an auxiliary power take-off output shaft of the motor vehicle. The dual clutch includes a drive clutch for coupling the motor vehicle engine with the drive shaft, and an auxiliary power take-off clutch for coupling the motor vehicle engine with the auxiliary output shaft. The drive clutch and the auxiliary power take-off clutch can each to be operated independently of one another by a separate lever mechanism. The dual clutch includes a wet chamber housing in which the drive clutch, the auxiliary power take-off clutch, and the respective lever mechanisms are accommodated in fluid-tight relationship.

Abstract: A dual clutch continuously variable transmission (“CVT”) includes an input member connected to an engine of the motor vehicle, an output member connected to a final drive unit, a first member, a second member, a third member, and a dual input assembly having a first element and a second element. The dual input member may be a dual clutch or a torque converter and clutch assembly. The dual clutch CVT also includes a fixed gear assembly having a first co-planar gear set selectively connectable to the first member and fixedly connected to the third member and a second co-planar gear set fixedly connected to the third member and fixedly connected to the output member. A continuously variable unit is connected directly to the second member and the third member. The output from the fixed gear unit may be connected to drive wheels separate from the continuously variable unit.
Abstract: A torque transmitting assembly for selectively transmitting torque between a first member and a second member includes a plate clutch interconnected between the first member and the second member, the plate clutch having a maximum torque capacity limited to enabling full throttle single-transition up-shifts in the transmission when the plate clutch is fully engaged. A dog clutch is connected to the first member and selectively connected to the second member. The dog clutch is in frictional engagement with the plate clutch when the plate clutch is engaged, and the dog clutch is connected to the second member prior to the transmitted torque exceeding the maximum torque capacity of the plate clutch.

Abstract: A self-adjusting twin or dual dry clutch assembly for a dual clutch transmission includes a single actuator. The clutch assembly includes one center and two outer clutch drive plates or discs which independently engage a pair of interleaved driven clutch plates or discs which are coupled to and drive a respective pair of transmission countershafts or layshafts. The single actuator translates an internal clutch carrier which acts upon the outer clutch plates through respective pluralities of linear one way clutches. Self-adjustment of the dual clutch assembly is achieved by additional linear one way clutches acting through pairs of spring biased control rods.
Abstract: A marine transmission provides a cylindrical spool valve that is disposed within the gear case of the transmission and has a movable portion that is axially movable in a vertical direction to select forward, neutral, and reverse gear positions of the transmission. A piston assembly provides a primary piston and two auxiliary pistons which cooperate with each other to provide appropriate hydraulic forces which move a dog clutch into engagement with forward or reverse gears or toward a location in non-engagement with neither the forward nor reverse gears. The spool valve is generally cylindrical and disposed within a narrow column portion of the gear case of a marine propulsion system.
