Including Binary Counter Patents (Class 194/218)
  • Patent number: 9576415
Abstract: A device (10) for sorting coins (31) has at least first and second receiving containers (20) for receiving coins (31) and a separating unit (14). Further, a transport unit (18) for transporting coins (31) to the receiving containers (20) is provided and has a first transport section (52) arranged between the separating unit (16) and the first transport container (20). The transport unit (18) also has a second transport section (54) between the first receiving container (20) and the second receiving container (20). A first sensor (62) for detecting coins (31) is arranged in the first transport section (52) and a second sensor (64) for detecting coins (31) is arranged in the second transport section (54). A control unit (24) determines the number of coins (31) fed to the first receiving container (20) dependent on the information obtained from the first sensor (62) and from the second sensor (64).

  • Patent number: 8985299
Abstract: A paper-type detection device comprises a sensor unit, a storage unit and a control unit. The sensor unit is used for detecting a transmission state of a paper according to a fixed clock period, and carrying out binaryzation on detected signals to indicate the presence-absence state of the paper. The storage unit is used for acquiring the signals detected by the sensor unit, acquiring paper information in the signals, and storing the paper information in sequence. The control unit comprises a first state counter and a second state counter. The control unit controls the two state counters for carrying out zero clearing and starting operations for counting in conjunction with the sensor unit.

  • Patent number: 6484863
Abstract: A coin sorting and counting machine and a method for operating it to automatically dispense cash vouchers based on the value of the counted coins, manufacturers' coupons and store coupons. Coins are placed in a hopper tray angled downward from the horizontal. When the hinged tray is lifted, the coins travel over a peak structure, through a waste management system and into the coin sorting and counting apparatus. The value of the coins and the number of coins within each denomination are displayed as the coins are counted. The coins fall into a storage area and the user is issued a cash voucher and a series of manufacturer coupons.

  • Patent number: 5819826
Abstract: A double-edged replaceable knife adapted for use with chip-cutting machines of various descriptions. The knife has a pair of spaced deflector portions projecting from the front side of the knife. Between the deflector portions is a channel used in properly locating the knife on a chip-cutting machine. The deflector portions are spaced at equal distances from respective cutting edges in the knife, and provide wear surfaces fronting the movement of chip material thereacross. The deflector portions also control the shape of chips cut by the machine mounting the knife.

  • Patent number: 5781444
Abstract: A distributed processing unit which permits easy modification of set data that has been written in a memory (19) of a coin selector (1-1) which constitutes a processor. A computer (50) is connected to a connection line that connects the memory (19) and a CPU (11) of the coin selector (1-1), and to a mode terminal of the CPU (11), signals applied to the mode terminal of the CPU (11) prohibit access to the memory (19) by the CPU (11) and enable direct access to the memory (19) by the computer (50) so that the set data in the memory (19) can be overwritten under the control of the computer (50).

  • Patent number: 5070518
Abstract: A coin counting apparatus for a vending machine includes a down counter which is loaded with an initial count representing the number of coins to be deposited in order to initiate a vend cycle which initial count is decremented in response to each sequential coin detection. A display responsive to the current count of the counter indicates the number of coins yet to be deposited and a gate detecting the target count of zero is coupled to actuate relay contacts to signal the vending machine to initiate a vend cycle. An initialization circuit causes the loading of the initial count in response to either the detection of power up or the expiration of a predetermined time period, in the range of 1 to 10 minutes, after the last coin detection.

  • Patent number: 4907250
Abstract: A vending machine, coin-operated self-service machine, utility meter etc., is provided with a counting mechanism which is inexpensive and simple in construction and easy to operate. The device comprises a binary counting device capable of storing cumulative counts of transaction information. The binary counts are converted in a parallel to serial converter and ultimately pulsed in a series of long and short pulses to an LED. The vending machine, self-service machine, etc., is provided with a bar code serial number, and a bar code reader reads and stores both the serial number and the transaction information delivered through the LED. Software is provided to permit the storage of transaction count information based upon the serial number of a particular machine.

  • Patent number: 4679150
Abstract: An automatic vending machine is provided which has a continuous sale controller for continuously selling a plurality of products within a total amount of coins inserted therein for a single purchase. Until the outstanding balance becomes zero single sale operations are stored in a single sale operation memory. When a count of a counter reaches a reference number while the single sale operations are being stored, a reference number detector generates an output. The regular sales price supplied from a product sales price generator to the continuous sale controller is updated to a discount price when an output is generated from the reference number detector.
