Abstract: A vibratory separator having a resiliently mounted housing with a vibratory drive. A screen extends across the housing and a cover is positionable over the screen. The screen includes a discharge port therethrough aligned with a discharge passage for removing material from the top of the screen from the system. Another discharge passage cooperates with a manifold plate extending across the separator beneath the screen. An access port is provided through the cover and arranged to receive a discharge plug which can selectively close the discharge hole through the screen. In operation, separating or dewatering is first accomplished, the energy level of the vibration is reduced and a vacuum is drawn above the screen. Bleed air is allowed into the separator below the screen with a restricted flow so that a vacuum can be drawn. Once the material has dried, the vibrational energy can be increased and the plug removed from the hole through the screen. The process material may then be discharged from the unit.

  • Patent number: 6029825
Abstract: A sieve for sorting fiber suspensions, symmetrical in relation to an axis, with an inflow side for the fiber suspension to be sorted and an opposite outflow side. This sieve is useful for pressure sorting machines having a rotor that may be rotated around the axis of the sieve and that is provided with profiled elements around the inflow side of the sieve in order to generate positive and negative pressure pulses in the fiber suspension that is to be sorted. The inflow side of the sieve has grooves approximately parallel to the axis of the sieve that follow each other in the circumferential direction of the sieve. A through-channel opens into each groove. The grooves are delimited by a front and a rear side wall, seen in the direction of rotation of the profiled elements.

Abstract: A screening device is described which is adapted in particular for fiber suspensions when paper is pulped. Along the outer circumference of a rotor body, there are disposed vanes which are oriented towards a screen wall. The vane is supported by a support member made of several parts, e.g. two parts, namely of a vane carrier and a strut carrier. The strut carrier is secured to the rotor body, for example by welding. The vane carrier and the strut carrier are detachably connected with each other by a screw connection which prevents rotation therebetween. More particularly, the connection between the vane carrier and the strut carrier is of the interlocking type.

  • Patent number: 6016920
Abstract: A programmed bar screen cleaner removes debris from a screen positioned in a channel to prevent the flow of the debris to a liquid treatment. A rake has tines for engaging the screen to move the debris toward and past an upper end of the screen to remove the debris from the screen. Automatic and controllable raking operations are provided to handle the situation in which there is debris jammed in the screen. The jammed debris resists the movement of the rake along the screen, which is sensed via rake motor overloaded, indicated by motor current in excess of a limit. The existence of a jammed rake causes positive release of the rake from the face of the bars, and further movement of the rake is controlled according to the nature of the problem which caused the jamming.

  • Patent number: 6010013
Abstract: A universal bar screen cleaner removes debris from a screen positioned in a channel guiding a flow of liquid, solids and the debris. The screen is to prevent the flow of the debris to a liquid treatment basin downstream of the screen. The screen has an upper end, a front side facing the upstream flow and a back side facing the downstream flow. A rake has tines for engaging the screen to move the debris toward and past the upper end of the screen to remove the debris from the screen. A frame supports the rake in a first rake position where the tines are engagable with the screen from the front side, or in a second rake position where the tines are engagable with the screen from the back side.

  • Patent number: 6010012
Abstract: A de-trashing unit has a rotor fabricated from steel blank. The rotor has two swept blades with blunt leading edges and relieved trailing edges. The rotor is driven to rotate over a trash screen with holes of between one-quarter and one-half inch in diameter. The blade is positioned with a clearance between the blade and the screen of between 0.005 and 0.010 inches. The relieved portions of the blades face the screen while the trailing edges of the blade are tapered between 18 and 30 degrees away from the screen surface. The blade taper creates a strong negative pressure pulse which keeps the screen clear. Holes drilled through the relieved portion of the blade allow circulation through the blade into the region of low pressure generated by the relieved portions passing over the screen. The circulation created by the holes creates microturbulence which keeps a water and paper fiber slurry fluidized.

Abstract: Improved methods of screening particulate matter are disclosed. For example, aqueous mineral slurries containing at least 10 weight percent of finely divided mineral solids are mechanically size separated using vibratory screening and a self propelled recirculative rotating spray bar, prior to, and subsequent to various processing steps. The employment of the spray bar improves the screening process by preventing blinding of the screen, as well as increasing throughput. As a result this invention reduces screen residues and/or increases production rates significantly.
