Abstract: A suction strainer includes a plurality of strainer bodies in flow communication with suction inlet of a pump. The strainer bodies include flow control apertures that are sized and aligned with the suction exit of the bodies to allow for control of the flow characteristics of the fluid being suctioned through the bodies. The flow control apertures can be sized to provide collective aperture areas that increase distally away from the suction exit of the body and the suction inlet of the pump.

Abstract: A pipe mounting apparatus for a water filter includes a first half body with a top, a first pipe assembly, a second half body with a top, a second pipe assembly and a mounting bracket. The first pipe assembly is formed on the top of the first half body and has a pump inlet and a pump outlet. The second half body is attached to the first half body. Likewise, the second pipe assembly is formed on the top of the second half body and communicates with the first pipe assembly to form a water filtering loop. The mounting bracket is mounted over the two half bodies to support a booster pump. Consequently, the booster pump will be quickly and easily connected to the pump inlet and the pump outlet with fittings or pipes to pump the water into the water filter.

Abstract: The ICE-TRAP is an invention that makes the drinking process a much more enjoyable and profitable experience. This is because the ICE-TRAP adds quality to existing drinking products, while at the same time making them more efficient for the consumer and the producer. The effectiveness of the ice trap can be seen not only in its design but also in the simplicity of the principles the ICE-TRAP is based on. Ice floats in liquid because of its density, ice cools the liquid, liquid comes through the end of the straw. The ICE-TRAP utilizes the buoyancy of the ice to trap it at the end of the straw where the liquid flows through. The effect of this product will be seen in the fact that drinks will last for a longer period of time, people will not have to sacrifice their drink with too much ice. And the temperature of their drink will be much cooler for a longer period of time.

Abstract: A two-stage, retrofit filter is adapted for use with an electrical discharge machine (EDM) includes nested inner and outer filtering elements that may be placed as a unit in the same tank and over the apertured standpipe used for a one-stage filter, such that the fluid to be filtered now flows through each of the multiple filter elements. The retrofit EDM filter may be configured for flow in either direction, though the usual arrangement is one whereby the fluid being filtered flows up through the bottom of the tank, out the apertured standpipe, and into the inner filter element. Preferably, the filter elements are cylindrical, pleated elements composed of a technical grade filter paper. In the preferred embodiment, a pressure-operated release valve is provided in conjunction with the inner filter, such that when a predetermined pressure is reached due to the entrapment of contaminants by the inner filter, the valve opens to allow the fluid to be filtered to flow through the outer filter.

  • Patent number: 6575307
Abstract: A self-cleaning water filter assembly including a body having inlet and outlet portions and a filter housing portion defining a cavity disposed therebetween so that water entering the inlet must flow through an inner surface to an outer surface of a filter then to the outlet. A piston disposed concentrically within the filter is biased in an upward resting position by a spring in the absence of water pressure. A scraper extends radially from a piston sidewall and into contact with the inner surface of the filter. Apertures extend through the sidewall and into a central bore extending through a bottom end of the piston. In the presence of water pressure, the piston is forced downwardly into the cavity, and the scraper and apertures cooperatively dislodge and flush filtered particulate matter from the housing. As water pressure is reduced, the piston is biased into its upward resting position, dislodging and flushing filtered particulate matter again.

Abstract: A suction strainer includes a hollow internal core tube and an external filtering surface built around the internal core tube. A plurality of openings are defined through the side wall of the internal core tube core. In some cases the openings through the side wall are constructed and arranged such that there is somewhat less open area near the downstream end than the upstream end of the internal core tube, and the amount of open area tapers between the upstream end and the downstream end. As a result, when liquid is drawn into the internal core tube through the plurality of openings, a substantially uniform inflow distribution may be defined along substantially the entire length of the internal core tube. The internal core tube functions as a rigid structural support for the external filtering surface, enabling the apparatus to withstand post-LOCA hydrodynamic forces.

  • Patent number: 6001250
Abstract: A connecting means for a water flow appliance, for example a hand shower, contains a connecting element connected to a water guide, for instance, a house water mains. Arranged in the connecting element is a sieve element which can be shifted between a sieve position, in which it acts a sieve, and a cleaning position in which it is possible to remove the particles retained in the sieve element. The sieve position is always assumed when a connection is made to the connecting means. When this connection is removed the sieve element can be translated into the cleaning position for example by water pressure. The water flow can be passed through said sieve element in the cleaning position preferably in the reverse direction so that said sieve element is back-washed.

Abstract: An in line fluid filter has an elongate tubular housing with end fittings. An axially disposed closed elongate cylinder is held within the housing defining an annular fluid chamber therebetween. The annular fluid chamber is divided into a plurality of concentric, parallel annular flow paths by at least one elongate concentric, fluid impermeable partition. The flow paths are occupied by a woven wire filter fabric with coarse mesh. This provides a long tortuous filter path that does not readily clog up and that prevents the passage of large particles.

  • Patent number: 5904842
Abstract: Debris removing screen basket and overflow apparatus embodiments for use in a storm collection sewer. The device has two embodiments, each including a central panel with foldable wings in each side of the central panel. During initial assembly, the wings are folded up around the central panel for insertion through a manhole cover. Each wing can have an optional extension panel. In the first embodiment, the wings, extension panels and the central panel form a single type panel that is inclined at a variable angle so as to suit various floor conditions at a particular location. Both wings and extension panels have angled deflector top portions, while the central panel does not. A screen mesh basket is supported behind the central panel. Storm water and debris fill up the area in front of the apparatus. The rising water when reaching the height of the deflector portions is forced over the central panel and into the basket.
