  • Patent number: 5520291
Abstract: A high security, inexpensive and versatile manner of locking firearms within a theft proof gun rack. The apparatus comes in two embodiments for use with long guns or pistols and utilizes a locking bar which locks the firearm within a given partition within the gun rack. The long gun embodiment of the apparatus accepts various sized guns, either in or out of soft gun cases, by using an optional spacer to accept smaller guns within the rack. The apparatus is designed to be mounted to a wall or similar object and, once a firearm is in place and locked, the mounting bolts are unreachable. Protection of the finish of the firearm is afforded by a resilient covering on all parts of the rack which come in contact with the firearm.

  • Patent number: 5495969
Abstract: A gun rack engages the rear of the back seat of a sports vehicle and enables weapons to be carried in a manner tilting toward the front of the vehicle. The rack has no middle struts which would interfere with the scope of rifle and thus allows the rifle to be carried scope down, a much more stable configuration. The rack of the present invention is completely foldable from and to a storage position, and contains specialized structures to enable tie down. Tie-downs are made with respect to eyelets which exist in the rear of sports vehicles, and tie down is effected through the use of quick release straps. Tie down is achieved both at the upper and lower end of the rack of the present invention. Self tying is achieved through a wrap-around strap, or through a decorative over cover. The decorative over cover helps to disguise the presence of the weaponry and thus to reduce the incidence of theft.

Abstract: The gun storage and rapid removal mount of this invention is for securely retaining a shotgun or the like against unauthorized removal with the mount providing for rapid removal by authorized persons. It comprises a trigger guard cup and a forward lock clamp. The lock clamp engages the barrel and a magazine tube just forward of the shotgun receiver to prevent forward motion of the shotgun in the mount. The trigger guard cup prevents rearward motion. The lock clamp is both lock- and spring-retained. When its lock is released, the gun can be rotated out of the clamp against spring force. The spring also permits reinsertion of the shotgun into position against the spring force.

  • Patent number: 4881386
Abstract: A locking bolt is provided in a mount for receiving a gun barrel or other article. The locking bolt can be cammed relative to the mount from its normally locked position to an unlocked position to permit release of the gun barrel from the mount. The locking bolt is cammed to its unlocked position in response to direct engagement with a key inserted into an interior region of the mount and rotated relative to the mount. Thus, the mount is formed to include a keyway configured to permit the key itself to impart motion to a locking bolt to unlock the mount.

  • Patent number: 4873777
Abstract: A cradle-like gun cradle for firearms frictionally, firmly receives long guns such as rifles or shotguns, which are press fitted into opposed grooves against compression and friction forces from one or more leather straps. In the best mode a rigid, generally planar base supported by a pair of spaced apart, adjustable lower stabilizers comprises a pair of spaced-apart, rigid sides extending vertically upwardly from the planar base. The stabilizers can be adjusted to accommodate for an irregular work surface, and the length of the stabilizers is greater than the width of the planar base. The sides are disposed oppositely from one another in substantially axial alignment. Each side comprises a top provided with at least one groove into which at least a portion of a firearm may be fitted. A leather strip overlies the top of each side, extending between and secured within suitable channels adjacent each groove. These strips permanently occupy the top surface of the groove.
