  • Patent number: 6367639
Abstract: A safety container incorporates a slidable locking pin with an integral but separately lockable locking tab. The locking pin is internally biased by an integral S-spring which, in cooperation with the lid on the container, urges the pin to slide in a slideway in the lid of the container. The locking pin may be locked into a closed position, however, by rotation of the locking tab into a flexed position. In this position, the locking tab cannot slide within a mating slot in the hinge lid and thus the locking pin cannot slide in the slideway in the lid. Alternatively, the locking tab may be rotated into a non-flexed position in which the locking tab can be urged to penetrate the mating slot in the lid and allow the locking pin to slide in the slideway in the lid. By use of the locking pin, the safety container can be set to require the user to engage in at least distinct hand motions in order to open the container.

  • Patent number: 5842806
Abstract: A roller-type storage container, dispenser and applicator includes a ball centered in a ball-retaining socket in a cap threadedly surmounting a container body. The cap is joined through an integral live hinge to a lid which is formed with an interior annular ring. Upon closure of the pivotally-hinged lid, the interior annular ring engages and bears inwardly against an outer upper wall section of the ball-retaining socket of the cap and urges the wall of the ball-retaining socket into positive, fluid-sealing engagement against the ball surface. Simultaneously, a vertically-directed force vector, generated during closure forces impressed by the lid upon the cap, bears upon the ball-retaining socket and forces the ball downwardly to seal against an annular, radially-inwardly-presented sealing ring integrally formed at a base of the ball-retaining socket, to seal the contents of the container therewithin.

  • Patent number: 5791515
Abstract: A one-at-a-time pill container and dispenser having a mechanism which allows for use of the device with existing containers. A child-proof lock is provided. The device has a mechanism for ensuring that only a single pill is brought into the dispensing chamber as a consequence of a partial rotation of the cap with respect to the bottle body. A reverse partial rotation of the cap then allows the pill to fall by gravity into the user's hand. The two-directional rotation to cause pill dispensing is easy for an adult but highly unlikely to be accidentally duplicated by a child. The mechanism is a series of wedge shaped chambers, sized for the capsule to be dispensed, with a covering flange over the dispensing chamber, to ensure that only a single capsule enters the dispensing aperture. The chambers are caused to be rotated by the mating engagement of the cap, via a pawl, with a segment shaped slot in the top of the dispensing mechanism.
