Abstract: The invention relates to a wine bottle with a decorative pattern, comprises a bottle for containing liquid; a convex base projected to the inside of the bottle provided at the bottom of the bottle, a space for containing liquid and a concave portion are formed in the bottle, a decorative pattern portion is further provided on the internal wall of the concave portion. The invention also relates to a process for manufacturing the wine bottle with decorative pattern. In the wine bottle with decorative pattern of the invention, various patterns and colors may be shown via the changes of the decorative pattern portion, which caused the outward appearance of the wine bottle to be further beautified. The decorative pattern and the bottle are merged into a whole. The bottle has no excessive parts and is allowed for packing and use.

  • Patent number: 6672470
Abstract: A process and a bottle made from this process where the bottle has improved material thickness distribution within the bottom or base portion. The bottle has a noncircular cross-sectional configuration with corresponding major and minor axes. The mold-base region of the bottle mold-cavity features at least one standing rib-like projection generally parallel to the major axis. The standing rib-like projection increases surface distance in a direction generally corresponding with the minor axis. An expanding heated preform traverses the increased surface distance causing the preform to thin more than what otherwise would be the case thus improving material thickness distribution of the base portion that in turn minimizes unwanted bottle shape distortions.

  • Patent number: 6635217
Abstract: A container is made in two stages from material such as thermoplastics that is deformable when heated. In the first stage a preform (1) is injection moulded, the mould parts easily releasing a tubular body (2) with a closed end. In the second stage the still heated preform (1) is blow moulded, possibly with some preliminary mechanical stretching, the blow pin being applied to the open end. The closed end of the body is stretched over a multi-part section (7, 8) of the mould which shapes the base of the container into an indent with an undercut formation, the cross section being generally omega-shaped. The multi-part mould section has a central tapered core (8) surrounded by an array of segments (7), the core (8) being fully inserted to spread the segments (7) for moulding, and being retracted to allow the segments (7) to close up and release the container after moulding. The divisions (12) between segments (7) produce ribs in the indent which provide added strength.

  • Patent number: 5913438
Abstract: The invention provides a light weight self-standing blow molded two liter carbonated beverage bottle having a unique petaloid base made from a monobase preform. The base comprises a petaloid design which has a plurality of at least three (preferably five) feet. The monobase preform has a thick reinforcing ring forming portion which remains unstretched during blowing. The reinforcing ring forming portion is thicker than both the sidewall forming portion and the gate area forming portion of the preform thereby resulting in increased stretching in both those areas. The reinforcing ring extends circumferentially around the base. By providing such a reinforcing ring, a bottle having a bigger foot radius and/or containing less material use can be realized. The resulting bottle has less stress whitening and greater stress crack resistance while at the same time using less material and/or having a larger radius than prior bottles.

The preform is shaped so that the resultant bottle is provided with a product-containing portion having a preferred hemispherical end portion and an integral bottom portion including a void therein for defining a hollow base portion (4, 12) which, in one form, contains fluid under pressure for balancing pressures related to the pressurized product. The hollow base portion provides for efficient use of material, and a minimal number of manufacturing steps, for providing a stable base for the hemispherical end portion (11) of the product containing portion of the bottle.

C. greater than the primary blowing mold temperature to form a secondary intermediate molded bottle-shaped piece, and blow-molding the secondary intermediate molded bottle-shaped piece in a secondary blowing mold heated at 100.degree. C. to 150.degree. C. to form a bottle-shaped container. The temperature of the secondary blowing mold is several degrees greater than the maximum temperature the molded bottle-shaped container will be subjected to during use.

  • Patent number: 5529196
Abstract: A one piece plastic container for carbonated beverages has a footed base structure. The upper portion of the base structure includes hollow projections between which are formed relatively stiff strap formations. A deformable open region at the upper end of the strap formations is easily deformed and expands in a controlled fashion when the container is pressurized. Outward movement of the open region causes outward movement of the upper ends of the strap formations which then pivot about the feet causing the lower ends of the strap formations and the central region of the base structure to move upwardly.

  • Patent number: 5469984
Abstract: A container (1) of thermoplastic material for containing liquids comprises an anti-bulging base (5) comprising a flat ring-shaped section (9) and a central dome-shaped section (11). The diameter of the central dome-shaped section (11) is relatively large and comprises at least 60% of the diameter of the container (1). The central dome-shaped section (11) consists of a lateral wall (15) of relatively large radius of curvature and a relative flat cap (17). The ring-shaped section (9) acts as a spring, giving away to internal pressure build-up in the container, which preferably is a household bleach bottle of polyethylene. Thus the pressure on the central dome-shaped part (11), which is designated for minimum thickness and maximum strength, is relieved.

  • Patent number: 5464106
Abstract: A multi-layer preform for forming multi-layer containers includes an extruded upper portion having a first thickness which is adapted to form an upper portion of a container. The preform also includes an extruded intermediate portion having a second thickness thicker than the first thickness. The intermediate portion is connected with the upper portion and is adapted to form an intermediate body portion of the container. The preform also includes an extruded base portion having a third thickness thicker than the second thickness. The base portion is connected with the intermediate portion and is adapted form a base portion of the container. The portions of the preform are preferably formed from an inner layer and a barrier layer wherein the layers are co-extruded for forming the preform and an outer injection molded layer. In one embodiment, the inner layer includes a lip which overlaps the top edge of the barrier and outer layers. A multi-layer container is then formable from blow molding the preform.

  • Patent number: RE36639
Abstract: A container of blow-moulded oriented thermoplastic material includes a base structure comprising a convex annular surface (which may be divided into a plurality of feet (118) by radial webs (112) and a central re-entrant portion (116). In blow-moulding the container, a moulded preform is enclosed within a mould heated, and stretched such that its bottom surface impinges upon a projecting surface of the mould bottom corresponding to the topmost surface (158) of the re-entrant portion. After blow-moulding, the material of the re-entrant portion (116) remains unoriented and relatively thick in comparison to the material of the remainder of the base. The unoriented material in the base is substantially confined to the re-entrant portion (116) which itself is strengthened by its relatively thick walls and the base thus exhibits improved creep and stress cracking properties.
