Abstract: The electric heater for clothes drying devices, object of the present invention, does not require the large dimensions currently required to provide high powers. Moreover, the particular shape of the resistive element reduces the vibrations transmitted to the apparatus and, therefore, the noise perceived by the user. The particular zigzag shape of the heater determines a lesser tendency for dust to be deposited on the heating element and increases safety against short circuits in case of filament breaking and/or wire deformation occurring when the same is subjected to high operating temperatures.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a printing plate oven 10 designed for lithographic printing plates and, in particular, for baking Kodak DITP gold printing plates. The printing plates oven comprises heating apparatus including a number of heating elements which extend at an angle relative to the direction of a printing plate passing through the oven. The printing plate oven also comprises drive means for driving the printing plates in which two rollers are urged towards each other on either side of the printing plates but the rollers are profiled such that they do not simultaneously contact a part of the printing plate at directly opposite locations. The printing oven includes cooling means which comprise deflecting means in order to flex a part of the printing plate during cooling. Furthermore, the heating elements of the printing oven are controlled in order to vary the heat applied to the printing plate depending upon the position of the printing plate.

Abstract: A welding apparatus having a system to facilitate its assembly. The apparatus is assembled by affixing a pair of molded end panels to a molded base and each of the end panels has a specially constructed receptacle area that is adapted to receive an end of the base. Each end of the base has a pair of snaps that extend outwardly and which engage with a correspondingly located pair of ramps formed in the receptacle area of each of the end panels. Thus the assembly is easily carried out by simply inserting the base ends into the receptacle areas where the snaps ride up the ramps and engage the vertical walls on the inner side of those ramps to securely affix the end panels to the base. Preferably the snaps are U-shaped in configuration with the distal end of the snaps being the closed ends of the U-shaped snaps.

Abstract: Heaters and methods of manufacturing ceramic heaters are provided. The heater includes a ceramic cylindrical-shaped body and an electrical connector connected at one end of the body. The electrical connector may be a screw-in connector. The heater also includes one or more resistance coils, filaments, wires or the like, that are embedded in the ceramic body and are electrically coupled to the electrical connector. The heater can include either one coil to provide radiated thermal output in a 180° range or two coils to provide radiated heat in a 360° range. The heater is connectable to a base coupled to an electrical source to energize the heater. The method of manufacturing enables the heater to be produced with either one coil or two coils, thereby providing a manufacturing process that can produce heaters having various capabilities.

Abstract: The invention provides a retainer system for retaining a positive temperature coefficient resistor in a heater housing shaft having a shaft side wall. The retainer system includes a base, a spring, and shaft engagement means. The spring is formed in and spaced apart from the base. The spring extends radially outwardly from a longitudinal axis of the base and the spring has a neck that curves radially backwardly, spaced apart from the base and toward the longitudinal axis of the base. The spring also has a contact surface presented outwardly, away from the base. The shaft engagement means are for engaging the shaft side wall and securing the base within the shaft at a desired distance from the resistor. The retainer system can be secured within the shaft with the spring flexed to a desired extent and with the contact surface urged against the resistor to retain the resistor in the shaft.

Abstract: A phase transition golf ball comprises a phase transition material. The phase transition material may optionally include a microwave susceptor or an induction susceptor. The phase transition material preferably comprises an ethylene acid copolymer, or an ionomer of an ethylene acid copolymer. The performance of the phase transition golf ball, for example its hardness or compression, is adjusted by inducing a complete or partial phase transition in the phase transition material. The extent of the adjustment in performance is correlated with the extent of the phase transition. Preferably, the phase transition is reversible and repeatable and takes place at temperatures that might be achieved through the use of common household appliances. Also preferably, the phase transition material returns to its original state over an extended period, for example hours or days.
