  • Patent number: 4235349
Abstract: A safety closure is provided for closing the open neck of containers having a bead type finish formed on such neck end. The closure comprises a unitary element molded from a resilient plastic material and having a generally horizontal circular panel portion and an integral, generally vertical peripheral flange portion. The flange portion is provided with an internally projecting rib which snaps into engagement with the groove normally provided beneath the bead of a container bead finish. In the closed position of the closure on the container, the bottom edge of the closure flange is flush with the side wall of the container neck and cannot be engaged by the fingers to pry the closure off of the container.

Abstract: An expandable syringe comprising a bag having an opening through which liquid may pass. A closed end tubular view stem projects outwardly from the bag opening and has an orifice in the side thereof in fluid communication with the interior of the bag. A nozzle has a female coupler sized to be movably mounted about the valve stem. The nozzle coupler has a valve seat against which the valve stem closed end may operationally engage in controlling the flow of liquid between the bag and nozzle. The bag may comprise a corrugated container or a shell having first and second openings and flexible pocket mounted to the shell sealing the first opening and sized for maneveur into and out of the shell through the first opening to displace liquid out of the shell. A nozzle or sprinkler cap may be detachably mounted to the shell over the second opeing.

Abstract: An improved safety closure for containers of harmful products includes an inverted cup-shaped body member formed of resilient plastic material and an integrally molded locking flap connected by an integral hinge to the top periphery of the body member. The locking flap folds into a conforming recess in the top surface or panel of the body portion, and, in its folded position, all edges of the locking flap are flush with the adjacent surface of the panel. One or more dispensing openings are provided in the panel and sealing means are provided on the bottom of the flap to close the dispensing openings in the folded position of the locking flap. Two distinct sets of cooperating locking surfaces are provided on the flap and body portion to retain the locking flap in its folded position. The one set requires a vertically downward pressure on a specific area on the panel to release.

  • Patent number: 4210256
Abstract: A lid adapted to fit over the opening of a container with an opening therein which permits the contents of the container to be poured therethrough. A tab fitted into the opening in the lid and attached toward the center of the lid. A force applying area positioned in the central portion of the lid and attached to the tab so that the tab moves in an inward direction when a force is applied to the top of the lid. When the force is released from the top of the lid, the tab then assumes its original position within the opening, thus preventing the spilling of the contents within the container to which the lid is applied.

  • Patent number: 4180178
Abstract: A container such as a bottle, vial or can has an enlarged lip surrounding a mouth opening, and a pliable closure which may be pressed down over the enlarged lip to secure the cap upon the container. The cap is integrally molded and comprises a top panel and peripheral skirt with an inward flange. The peripheral part of the cap including the outer portion of the top panel and the skirt is connected to a central flat area of the top panel by a circular hinge line located inside of the container mouth opening which permits relatively easy flexing at that point. To release the cap from the container, external downward pressure is applied by a person's thumb against the central flat area of the cap causing the hinge to flex and creating a pivot action between the hinge line and the outermost perimeter of the cap whereby the skirt moves upwardly over the enlarged lip of the container mouth opening.

  • Patent number: 4174034
Abstract: A two-piece moisture proof safety container for pills and the like has a rectangular drawer and a cover made of a resilient material. The cover and drawer are in the form of mated boxes in which the drawer is slidably engaged within the cover by meshing flanges on the facing surfaces of inside surfaces of sides of the cover and corresponding outside surfaces of the sides of the drawer. This configuration facilitates the automated filling and assembly of the container. The meshing flanges on the drawer and the cover act as cams and cam followers to resiliently urge the drawer, as it is closed, up into tight contact with the underside of the top of the cover by the proper interference fit, effecting a moisture-proof seal. A small catch is attached to the outside of the rear wall of the drawer. This catch engages a portion of the rear wall of the cover, locking the container closed.

  • Patent number: 4157764
Abstract: An easy opening beverage can wherein the closure is of the push-in type. The dispensing opening in the container is defined by a sealing ring into which there is engaged a peripheral flange of the closure member with the closure member being held initially with respect to the sealing ring only by a mechanical interlock. Pressure within the can tightly forces the closure member into sealing engagement with the sealing ring and normally prevents removal. A lever is connected to the sealing ring to effect distortion thereof and bleeding-off of pressure from within the can so as to relieve the holding pressure on the closure member, after which the closure member may be readily pushed into the can in an opening action.
