Abstract: A method of making a multi-ply bottom of clad metal cookware is disclosed. In the method, both an aluminum plate and a stainless steel cladding plate, externally laid on a base bottom of the clad metal cookware held on a friction press, is pressed down using an instantaneous pressure of the friction press, thus being integrated with the base bottom of the cookware in a way such that the stainless steel cladding plate is fully integrated with the base bottom of the cookware within a predetermined area including a corner of the base bottom. The instantaneous pressure of the friction press ranges from 800 tons to 1,500 tons. In the multi-ply bottom of this invention, the aluminum plate has a dense structure, and increases heat conductivity, heat conservativity, and thermal efficiency of the cookware while allowing the multi-ply bottom to be free from partially heating food in the cookware. Abstract: The present invention relates to a cooking system having a conventional style pot with a multi-function reversible top. The system comprises two pieces, a pot and top (with a lid), that can be used individually and collectively to function as a cooking pot, colander, steamer and strainer. The pot functions by itself as a conventional cooking pot. The top functions by itself right-side-up as a colander. The pot and top with a lid functions as a steamer. And, the top, when positioned up-side-down on top of the pot, functions as a strainer. When used as a strainer, the top and pot preferably have engaging handles that allow the top and pot to be held together with one hand, to help avoid dropping food and steam burns.

  • Patent number: 5881905
Abstract: A lid for a cooking vessel such as a pot. The lid is circular and has a central region and a peripheral region. At least one aperture is disposed within the central region of the lid, thereby enabling hot air and steam to pass through the lid. A plurality of rib elements are disposed on the top of the lid, wherein the various rib elements define a pathway from the apertures in the central region to the peripheral region. The rib elements all terminate in the same plane. As such, a cooking vessel can be placed on top of the lid and the rib elements will support that cooking vessel in an even manner. As hot air and steam from a cooking vessel rise up, that hot air and steam passes through the apertures in the lid. The hot air and steam then passes through the pathways on the top surface of the lid, thereby allowing that hot air and steam to heat a second cooking vessel placed on the lid.

Abstract: A disposable and interchangeable roasting pan/cover features a base panel with a side wall about its perimeter. A platform for supporting a food product is positioned on the interior surface of the base panel. A handle recess may form the platform so as to define a handle upon the exterior surface of the base panel. Alternatively, a pair of side wall recesses in the interior surface of the side wall may define handles on the side wall exterior surface while enhancing the structural strength of the pan/cover. A rim is disposed about the outer edge of the side wall and features an even number of staggered tongue and groove features. Two of the pan/covers may be oriented with their rims abutted so that one pan/cover serves as a cover for the other serving as a pan. The tongue and groove features of the two pan/covers engage one another so that the cover oriented pan/cover does not slide off of the pan oriented pan/cover holding the food product.

Abstract: An improved footed cooking utensil is provided whereby the cooking utensil may be removed from a hot oven and placed directly on a counter-top or other surface without the need for a hot pad, cutting board, or similar device. The cooking utensil of the present invention includes foot supports which suspend the lower surface of the cooking utensil above the counter-top thereby eliminating contact between the counter-top and hot metal. The low heat capacity footings do not retain heat and any heat absorbed during the baking process is quickly dissipated upon removal of the utensil from the oven. One or more footings may be applied to metal cookware, ceramic cookware or cookware fabricated from other materials.
