  • Patent number: 5702030
Abstract: A feeding system for feeding blank contacts to a crimping device for crimping the contacts onto ends of lead wires. The contact feed system includes a bowl, and a scoop for removing contacts from the bowl. The scoop is preferably mounted on the end of a rotating arm so that the scoop describes the locus of a circumference of a vertical circle when the arm rotates. Contacts fall, under gravity, from the scoop, when it is near the apogee of travel, onto an angled chute that guides the contacts into a space between two parallel contact orienting rails. The contacts are stacked between the supporting contact orienting rails and a shuttle gate controlledly carries a single contact at a time into a drop tube that feeds the contact to a crimping device for crimping onto an end of a wire lead.

  • Patent number: 5542570
Abstract: A transparent thermoplastic housing has an upper and a lower compartment divided by a ramp. The lower compartment houses a battery, motor and drive mechanism for turning a candy dispensing screw in communication with the upper compartment. The lower compartment is hidden by an outer opaque label. Candy pieces of like dimensions are stored in the upper compartment and fed serially to the screw by a first channel formed with the ramp. A second channel next to the screw along its length maintains the candy received from the first channel aligned serially. The screw displaces the candy from the first channel to the second channel and to a dispensing port at the top of the housing. A clutch in the drive mechanism permits the screw to be turned manually.

  • Patent number: 5529208
Abstract: The present invention includes a jar ticket dispensing apparatus and method for dispensing jar tickets in response to an operator input. The invention includes an enclosed drum for containing the tickets. A support means supports the drum for rotation thereof. The drum is adapted to be rotated by an electric motor or other conventional device. A control means controls the dispensing of tickets in response to an input of money to the apparatus. The tickets are dispensed by rotating the drum causing the tickets contained therein to come into magnetic contact with a plurality of magnets residing on the drum and to be releasably secured thereto. Dispensing occurs when the magnetically attached ticket encounters a stripper which strips the ticket from the magnet. The dispensed ticket falls into a dispensing chute which dispenses the ticket to the operator.

Abstract: A sugar cane planter has a series of cane carrier elements which are moved through a supply of randomly oriented cane billets to select billets and deliver them to a soil furrow. The cane carrier elements move in a circular path and are maintained horizontal throughout said movement by attitude control means thereby providing sufficient time for reliable pick-up, doffing of excess billets, and billet alignment. A supply of billets to the selection mechanism is maintained from a trailed cane bin having a cane elevator. Fungicide is sprayed on the billets carried by the elevator.

  • Patent number: 4204491
Abstract: Apparatus for automatically planting billets of sugar cane as produced by a chopper-type sugar cane harvester, comprises a hopper for billets, an elevator to convey billets upwards and out of the hopper, and a billet delivery chute to receive the billets from the elevator and deliver them to a furrow in the ground. The elevator has at least two series of staggered slats which meter the billets. The delivery chute has a funnel-shaped upper portion and a trough-shaped downwardly and rearwardly-sloping lower portion, which guide and channel the billets in an endwise flow towards the furrow. The lower end of the chute is positioned close to or in contact with the ground so that billets can engage the ground before they leave the chute whereby billets can build up at the lower end of the chute and be discharged into the furrow at a rate corresponding to the forward speed of the planter.

  • Patent number: 4193357
Abstract: A potato seed platner in which seeds are loaded into cups on an endless conveyor from a hopper of a seed receptacle. The conveyor is driven on upper and lower sprockets and arranged on the receptacle with the cups in two parallel rows in staggered constant relationship and moving upwardly through the hopper for seed loading. The cups pass around the upper sprocket, invert and enter a contoured tube thereat and descend in an attached dicharge tube to a furrow. The cup bottoms are inclined transversely and support the seeds in their descent against the wall of the discharge tube. At the bottom the seeds are discharged from the planter and guided by the transversely inclined cup bottoms are deposited one by one alternately from one row and then the other in the furrow with precision heretofore unachieved. The planter further comprises a wheeled frame and one or more, attached, laterally extending, flexible frames upon which the receptacle is supported.

  • Patent number: 4174787
Abstract: A soda straw dispenser consisting of a horizontal fixed drum adapted to contain soda straws resting longitudinally therein, and having a longitudinal discharge slot in an upper portion thereof, and a rotor carried in the drum and including a straw carrier operable on a partial rotation of the rotor to select a single straw from those in the container, elevate it to the discharge slot, and eject it through the slot to a station at which it may be manually grasped for removal. Special provisions are made to prevent escape of the straw from the carrier by any avenue other than through the slot, for example back into the drum.

  • Patent number: 4162744
Abstract: A seed dispensing device comprising a housing in which is rotatably mounted a wheel member having a plurality of spokes each carrying a seed cup. The cups pick up seeds from a reservoir on rotation of the wheel member and under the combined action of centrifugal and gravitational forces discharge the seeds to an outlet chute. Opposed brushes are provided in the housing between which the cups pass to sweep excess seeds from the cups and to aid retention of a single seed in each cup to the discharge point. A rotatable cleaning brush element having tangential bristles is mounted in the housing to clean cups prior to the cups entering the mass of seeds in the reservoir. Further brushes and excess seed catching gutters may be provided to assist the reliability of solely a single seed being discharged at predetermined intervals. A power-operated ejector may be arranged to discharge foreign matter or broken seeds and so on from the reservoir.

  • Patent number: 4137854
Abstract: A planting apparatus is shown having a drive wheel for turning a drive belt connected to an axis extending through a hopper. Inside the hopper, a pickup wheel having individual spokes extending radially outward is rotated by the axis. Each spoke there has an indentation just large enough to receive a seed therein upon rotation through to the bottom of the hopper having seed therein. Upon further rotation, the seed is carried by the spoke to the top of the hopper before being dropped into a funnel shaped flue. A spring loaded tapping mechanism strikes the spokes to insure that the seeds will drop from the spokes into the flue. The individual spokes may be removed for varying the space therebetween, or replaced by other spokes having different sized holes therein for the planting of different sized seeds. The seeds drop through the flue and are delivered to a furrow made by a planting foot and covered by a planter wheel.

  • Patent number: 3980175
Abstract: A device for aligning cops which withdraws them in bulk from a storage bin consisting of a substantially horizontal conveyor belt which discharges the cops onto a second elevating conveyor belt, which acts as a first spacing means. After the second elevating conveyor belt, the cops are further spaced out by two conveyor belts and are delivered one at a time along their axis into a collection chamber, from which they reach the usage means by passing over a sloped collection surface.

  • Patent number: 3952757
Abstract: Processing chambers formed by circumferentially spaced pockets of a rotor rotatable in a cylindrical chamber disposed with its axis substantially horizontal are loaded through a top access opening in the cylinder and unloaded by a single or double vaned scoop rotatable about an axis parallel to the axis of the casing to sweep product out of an upwardly opening rotor pocket. The spider rotor and unloading rotor are power-driven intermittently so that the unloading rotor sweeps through a pocket of the spider rotor when the spider rotor is stationary, and the spider rotor is indexed to expose successive pockets to the access opening of the casing when the unloading rotor is out of the path of movement of the spider rotor partition vanes.
