  • Publication number: 20020125265
Abstract: Each of four compartment blocks have a plurality of pill compartments with floors that are angled downward. The compartments have open ends of similar dimensions. The open ends are proximal to a door compartment. A retainer belt forms a loop around a tractor drive and the open ends. The retainer belt has a discharge port of substantially the same dimensions as the open ends. The tractor drive is operable to cause the discharge port to serially pass in alignment with the open ends. When the discharge port is in the discharge alignment one of the pill compartments, a sensor provides a stop signal to a control circuit. In response to the stop signal, the tractor drive stops moving the retainer belt. Additionally, medication from the one pill compartment passes through the discharge port into the door compartment. When the door compartment is opened, a switch provides a start signal.

  • Patent number: 5509574
Abstract: A package is disclosed for storing and dispensing electrical connectors or components thereof. The package employs a plurality of elongated component-containing tubes in a generally parallel laterally stacked array, with opposite ends of the tubes being in generally linear alignments at opposite ends of the stacked array. An elongated, U-shaped end cap slidingly engages the opposite outer walls of the tubes along the opposite ends of the stacked array thereof. A dispensing system is disclosed wherein a pair of upright supports of a dispensing apparatus are disposed in a spaced arrangement for receiving therebetween the stacked array of tubes held together by the end caps. Complementary recessed portions located within said upright supports hold the end caps so that when the stacked array is moved beyond the recessed portions, the end caps remain in the recessed portions.

  • Patent number: 5433340
Abstract: A device for vending articles includes a stack of separator panels, each of which supports a product package, positioned in a storage bin. The bin has separator panel support tabs extending into the bottom thereof, and a pivot plate containing a panel-dislodging detent is located at the bin's bottom. The lowermost panel is dislodged from the support tabs by rotation of a pin forming part of an associated coin mechanism after proper coinage has been inserted into the mechanism and its operating handle has been turned. The pin forces the plate to pivot, causing its detent to press against the separator panel, thereby dislodging the panel from the support tabs, together with its product package. Once dislodged, the separator panel falls from the device, together with the vended article, the article proceeding to an area accessible to the purchaser, and the separator panel being retained on a hanger attached to the bin.

  • Patent number: 5261208
Abstract: The present invention involves a tamper-proof apparatus and method for assuring the integrity of containers of consumer goods. A special carton, which becomes part of the retail display, has a plurality of controlled dispensing openings such that once a container has been removed, it cannot be replaced in the carton. Accordingly, a container cannot be removed from the carton, its contents altered, and the container replaced in the carton to be purchased by an unwitting consumer. Several alternative systems are employed for assembling the carton in a secure, tamper-proof manner. Further, if the carton is loaded at the point of manufacture or distribution, once the carton is loaded, the carton is sealed to provide indicia of potential tampering between the point of manufacture or distribution and the ultimate point of sale at a retail location.

  • Patent number: 4199014
Abstract: A power screwdriver for use with a flexible string of disconnected screws retained in head to tip orientation by attachment to a continuous length of plastic, paper or similar flexible material. The string of screws feeds into a rearward section of a reciprocating shaft of the power screwdriver where the screws are individually advanced into alignment with an engaging bit, the combination bit and shaft being continuously rotated during the course of use. As the forward screw is prepared for engagement by the rotating bit, the retaining plastic or similar material is severed, leaving the forward screw free for emplacement. The screw is engaged and advanced to a forward opening of the shaft by thrust pressure applied by the user to reciprocate the shaft rearward with respect to a power train which is keyed to continuously rotate the shaft and bit. When the thrust pressure is withdrawn, a spring compressed by the rearward motion of the shaft returns the shaft forward to a stable position.
