  • Patent number: 9907427
Abstract: A system and a method for making a beverage from a mixture of liquid and solid particles are disclosed. The liquid and solid particles are introduced into a chamber so as to allow the liquid to infuse with the flavor or quality of the solid particles. A piston having an integrated filter is in sealed contact with the chamber, and can be vertically displaced within the chamber. When the piston is displaced downward, air is forced from below the filter and into the mixture sitting above the filter, agitating the mixture. When the piston is displaced upward, the mixture is drawn from above the filter. This separates the spent solid particles from the infused liquid, which collects in the chamber, thereby making the beverage. Also described are a driving mechanism for displacing the piston, a dispensing mechanism for releasing the beverage, and a wiping mechanism for wiping spent solid particles.

  • Patent number: 9415415
Abstract: A liquid dividing module is located between a manifold and a dispensing module in a variable output dispensing applicator, to thereby enable the applicator to dispense patterns of adhesive onto a substrate, such as striped patterns and box-shaped patterns defined by zones of full volume adhesive and zones of reduced volume adhesive. The liquid dividing module divides a full volume flow of adhesive at a liquid inlet into first and second partial flows of adhesive, one of which continuously flows to a liquid outlet and another of which is controlled to either be recirculated or delivered to the liquid outlet. The different operating states of the liquid dividing module therefore enable highly responsive and rapid switching between the reduced volume output and a full volume output immediately before discharge at the dispensing module.

Abstract: Systems and methods for delivering fluid-containing feed materials to process equipment are disclosed. A liner-based pressure dispensing vessel is subjected to filling by application of vacuum between the liner and overpack. Multiple feed material flow controllers of different calibrated flow ranges may be selectively operated in parallel for a single feed material. Feed material blending and testing for scale-up may be performed with feed materials supplied by multiple liner-based pressure dispensing containers. A gravimetric system may be used to determine concentration of at least one component of a multi-component solution or mixture.
