Abstract: A safe, effective self-defense device including a container having a non-toxic deterrent fluid mixture therein is disclosed. The container is provided as a thin-walled, manually-collapsible, squeeze bottle having a nozzle, a nozzle closure cap and a sealing substance positioned in the nozzle, which cap can be removed and the sealing substance ejected from the nozzle by a single hand of the user. The deterrent mixture includes a surfactant lachyrmal agent, a food-grade dye and an odor or oleofactory agent.
Abstract: A container which is formed from a generally stiff but flexible blank of coated carton material by means of inwardly bulging and shaping a center section of an initially flat blank and joining together and tightly connecting the opposite side edges and flanges of the side sections in such a manner that the superimposed flanges are not connected with each other at one location, thus forming coacting sidewalls for a discharge opening. The coacting sidewalls are separable from each other by liquid being squeezed by pressure on the exterior of the container whereby this opening discharges the liquid into a separable tongue which is closed before use and is torn off or cut to provide a dispensing outlet for the container.
Abstract: A tool for use in the lubrication of a slip joint formed by a spline connection between a shaft and a sliding yoke in a two piece vehicle driveline. The tool includes a pair of spring brackets having legs which grip the yoke. An L-shaped spring arm has one end connected to a rigid plate secured to the brackets. The other end of the spring arm carries a plug having a conical tip which plugs a vent hole in the yoke when lubricant is applied to the slip joint. The spring arm holds the plug in the vent hole to assure a complete fill of the slip joint with lubricant and yields if necessary to relieve excessive pressure which could damage the slip joint seal.
Abstract: An apparatus for intermittently and accurately discharging a measured portion of the contents of a container by a peristaltic pumping action and such apparatus includes an elongated elastomeric tubular body having a connection at one end for attachment to the container and a discharge tip section at the other end on which a dispensing valve and cap are mounted.
Abstract: So that a freight or storage tank for bulk material, that has at least one long emptying hole on the bottom, can be closed and opened, the tank has at least one flexible belt that extends essentially over the length of the opening and whose one end is attached to the tank, and under which is a roller or roller system that is approximately of the same length and that supports the belt when in the closed position and that can be removed from the closed position, as well as elements to move the roller or roller system across the opening between two extreme positions.
Abstract: Dispensing apparatus for a flexible container, including a closure for the container and an expansible bladder associated with the closure and adapted to fit within the container to expand and displace the dispensed contents. The closure has two openings, one at which it is attached to the container and the other forming an outlet for dispensing. A conduit extends from the bladder into the closure and communicates to the exterior of the closure and container through one of the two openings. The outlet opening is constructed to allow the contents to flow only in a direction from the container during use and a check valve allows flow through the conduit only into the bladder.
Abstract: A hollow flexible body containing liquid soap has the general shape of a bar of soap. The body has opposite front and rear main surfaces interconnected by a peripheral surface. A groove defining a closed loop extends along the main surfaces and across the peripheral surface. The groove carries a discharge port. When the body is squeezed, soap is discharged through the port. An O ring is disposed in the groove and overlies the opening. The O ring seals the port when soap is not dispensed and cooperates with the groove to distribute the soap when it is dispensed.
Abstract: A disposable portion package for liquids, creams, powders or the like, the package mainly comprising a casing made of a flexible film, which tightly encloses the packaged substance and also a certain amount of air or some other gas, the package having been provided with at least one conduit or the like, which has been arranged to open by means of pressure produced inside the package, for example by pressing the package between the fingers in order to obtain the contents for use, preferably as a finely-divided spray, the package comprising at least two wall parts sealed to each other, the conduit being formed in some layer in the seam connecting the wall parts by weakening the seam in the conduit area, in which case, when package is pressed, the area of the conduit opens to make the substance available for use.
Abstract: An automatic closure for collapsible tubes, squeeze bottles, and the like containers of the type formed from resilient plastic material. The container typically is tubelike, provided with a tapered or frusto-conical neck portion terminating in a flattened mouth defining end lips forming an openable closure. Pressure applied to the body of the container remote from the lips to forms a transverse pinch-off across the end portions wherein the lips are deflected or bent along a line of curvature to one side or the other and at an angle to the axis of the container, and wherein the lips are also bowed, having a curved contour. Such pinch-off forms a closure across the neck portion. The pinch-off opens in response to pressure on the walls of the container proximate thereto in a manner to relive the pinch-off and permit the fluid contents to flow. Specifically, the pinch-off is in the following form: the end lips of the neck have a bowed contour about the lengthwise dimension.

Abstract: An osmotic system for delivering a beneficial agent is disclosed. The system comprises a wall surrounding a compartment and has a passageway through the wall for delivering agent from the compartment. The wall is formed of a material permeable to the passage of an external fluid and impermeable to the passage of agent. The compartment contains an agent that is soluble in the fluid and exhibits an osmotic pressure gradient across the wall against the fluid, or the compartment contains an agent that has limited solubility in the fluid and exhibits a limited osmotic pressure gradient across the wall against the fluid. The compartment also contains means for increasing the amount of agent delivered from the system. The means comprises a film surrounding an osmagent with the film formed of a material permeable to fluid, impermeable to osmagent and movable from an initial to an expanded state.

The delivery member comprises a semipermeable film surrounding an osmotically effective compound and it is able to increase in volume over time.
Abstract: An osmotic system for delivering a beneficial agent is disclosed. The system comprises a wall surrounding an agent compartment and an osmagent compartment separated by a film and has a passageway through the wall for delivering agent from its compartment. The wall is formed of a material permeable to the passage of an external fluid and impermeable to the passage of agent and osmagent. The film is formed of a material impermeable to the passage of agent and osmagent and movable from an original to an expanded state. The agent compartment contains an agent that is soluble in the fluid and exhibits an osmotic pressure gradient across the wall against the fluid, or the compartment contains an agent that has limited solubility in the fluid and exhibits a limited osmotic pressure gradient across the wall against fluid. The osmagent compartment contains an osmagent that exhibits an osmotic pressure gradient across the wall against the fluid.
Abstract: An osmotic dispenser comprised of (1) a water permeable membrane forming part or all of the walls of an enclosure surrounding (2) an active agent, and in some cases (3) an additional compound known as an osmotic attractant which together exhibits an osmotic pressure against water. When placed in an aqueous environment water is osmotically drawn into the enclosure by the combined action of the agents (2) and (3) which distends and swells the enclosure until the membrane or some other part of the enclosure wall reaches the point of ultimate elongation and a portion of the wall yields and ruptures releasing the contents of the enclosure to the environment.
Abstract: A fuel pump nozzle anti-dribble device for mounting to the end of the nozzle on a conventional fuel delivery pump, such as a gasoline pump to eliminate dripping and spillage of fuel therefrom upon withdrawal of the nozzle from a vehicle fuel tank. The anti dribble device has a flap which is lightly spring loaded to the closed position to close off the flow area of the nozzle upon the shutting off of the nozzle. The flap is spring loaded so as to allow movement to an open position upon the turning on of the nozzle without tripping the automatic shut-off device normally found on such nozzles.
