  • Publication number: 20020158091
Abstract: This invention relates to a garment hanger 10 having an elongate hanger bar 20 and a centrally positioned hook member 12. Garment holding means are located at opposed ends 14, 16 of the hanger bar 20. Each garment holding means includes a first jaw 30 and a second jaw 40, the second jaw 40 being moveable relative to the first jaw 30. Each garment holding means also including locking means 50 for selectively holding the second jaw 40 in a position adjacent the first jaw 30. The ability of the garment hanger 10 to selectively clamp the second jaw 40 in a position so as to hold a garment between the first and second jaws 30, 40 is a particular advantage.

  • Patent number: 6467659
Abstract: A molded plastic garment hanger as is widely used for the purpose of shipping and displaying garments, comprising a unitary plastic central hook and arms extending in opposite directions from the base of the central hook to facilitate a garment to be suspended therefrom by garment clips. The garment clips enable the attachment of various kinds of garments thereto, such as underwear, slips, brassieres, swimwear and the like, and are particularly adapted to secure the shoulder straps of such garments. The garment hanger has an improved garment retaining clip wherein as a garment strap is inserted into the garment retaining clip, the garment receiving channel of the clip first opens to allow the garment strap to enter, and then closes to securely retain the garment and to prevent it from becoming accidentally dislodged therefrom.

  • Publication number: 20020145016
Abstract: A pinch-grip hanger includes an elongated body with first and second pinch-grips positioned along the body. Each pinch-grip has a stationary back leg and a front leg movable about a pivot axis, with single gripping portions at the lower ends thereof. An inverted U-shaped spring applies a force near the lower ends of the legs to bias the gripping portions thereof toward each other. Moving the upper ends of the front leg rearwardly separates the gripping portions, thereby opening the pinch-grip. Spacers at opposite sides of the legs extend in the front-to-back direction a sufficient distance so that contact with another hanger on a rack will not move the upper ends of the legs toward each other a sufficient distance to release an item being held by the gripping portions. Opposed overlapping barriers extend from the front and back legs just below the pivot axis. These shield an item held by the hanger from the area near the pivot axis.

The lateral positions of the clamp are adjustable. The spring-clip that biases the garment engaging surfaces of the clamps together also provides frictional engagement between the clamps and the upper ridge of the crossbar. Hooks disposed at either end of the crossbar are suitable for engaging straps and also limit the outward lateral position of the clamps. Steps or stacking ribs disposed adjacent to the hook limit the inward lateral movement of the clamps. The spring bias of the spring-clip against the clamps resists clamp creep under the weight of a heavy garment.

  • Patent number: 4545514
Abstract: An upper torso frame includes a pair of vertical members with a waist well extending between and connected to the lower end portions of the vertical members. A shoulder member is positioned on the vertical members upper end portions. The shoulder member is connected to the upper ends of the vertical members for forward and backward pivotal movement. A pivot carrying link is connected by friction hinges at one end to each vertical member upper end portion and at the opposite end to the upper portion of an arm member so as to pivotally connect a pair of arm members to the upper torso frame. The pivot carrying link is pivotal on the torso frame and each arm member is pivotal on the pivot carrying link to thereby provide multiple degrees of pivotal movement of the arm members relative to the upper torso frame.

  • Patent number: 4438874
Abstract: A unitary garment hanger system fabricated in monolithic form in a single molding step to include a plurality of relatively spaced hanger elements that are formed unitary with and integrally connected by struts that join the hanger elements together for articulation between selected positions on opposite sides of each other and at relatively different heights for the attractive individual display of garments supported thereon.

  • Patent number: 4382531
Abstract: A molded plastic hanger and a clip for use therewith or with other members. The hanger includes a body portion having a diverging pair of arms including slots therein and a crossbar for mounting garment holding clips. A plastic swivel hook is connected to the body portion at a stem. The stem includes a shaft having an annular locking recess in its periphery which is adapted to be received within a mating socket of the hook to connect the hook and body portion to each other while enabling them to be swiveled readily with respect to each other. The clip is arranged for securement to the crossbar of the hanger or to any other rod-like element and is formed of a three piece construction comprising a pair of plastic jaws and a resilient U-shaped member, also formed of plastic, but having a higher tensile strength and resiliency than the plastic of the jaws.

  • Patent number: 4324352
Abstract: The invention relates to a tamper-proof hanger comprising at least one arm forming gripping jaw movably mounted in the plane of the hanger and whose mobile end may be applied against a part of the top edge of the bar supporting a garment, thus gripping a garment hanging on the hanger between the arm and the bar, and means for locking the mobile arm in closed position. This hanger is intended to prevent the theft of the garments, particularly in stores or cloakrooms.
