Foldable Or Telescopic Patents (Class 223/94)
  • Patent number: 5620127
Abstract: A portable garment carrier with a handle portion and a garment holder portion which are connected by a central hook attachment that attaches to the garment hook on the interior of a vehicle. The handle portion folds down over the central hook attachment when it is suspended from a car hook. The garment carrier is fabricated from flexible material. The garment carrier can also be made from rigid material with a hinge mechanism to allow the handle portion to fold during use or for more convenient storage. An optional gap in the handle allows the handle to be suspended from a closet clothing rack. Alternate embodiments allow written information such as advertising messages to be displayed on the central hook attachment, folding handle grips which provide more comfortable handling, and specialized handles which can also be used to suspend the garments in a closets. The device may be fabricated as a disposable or reusable unit.

Abstract: The adjustable clothes hanger includes two divergent shoulder portions connected to a crossbar at their ends thereof to be assembled with a pair of generally elongated tubular-shaped movable parts with an open channel at a bottom wherein the open channels of each said movable parts are closed at the inner ends thereof to provide a stopping device as well as strength and stability. The movable parts slide manually. The slidable fittings are loose enough to slide easily, yet tight enough to secure desired position. The shoulder width of the hanger is thereby changed by the expansion or contraction of the movable parts. The hanger thus accommodates a variety of garment sizes. The adjustable principle can also be applied to a singular set of divergent shoulder portions with tubular-shaped movable parts. The adjustable principle can also be applied to two or three cross bar hangers, wherein U-shaped extensions provide for expansion and contraction of the hanger width.

The upper frame is mounted on a support with the body portion and the lower frame is hung on the turnbacks by the neck. The upper frame not in use may be folded by allowing the upper frame to be clamped by the loops.

Abstract: A first and second arm pivotally connected together at first ends for pivoting from an extended to a retracted position. Upwardly extending extensions are connected to the first ends and are connected to a resilient loop for resiliently holding the arms in the extended position but allowing the arms to be retracted downwardly. A supporting hook is connected to a pivot and provides a stop limiting the extended motion of the arms and also prevents the loop from moving past dead center of the pivot means.

Abstract: A portable clothes hanger rack is disclosed. A yoke has a hook at one end and a pair of pivotable arms mounted on the other end. The hook is used to suspend the device while the arms hold a plurality of hangers. The hangers are modified with a sphere replacing the conventional hanger hook. The arms have a removable end and the top, bottom and side wall form an enclosed elongated parallelpiped. The arm bottom wall has an elongated slot and the hangers extend down through the slot with the sphere retained inside the arm. The arms may be folded into a vertically parallel coextensive position for compact storage of the device in a suitcase.

Abstract: Each hanger arm includes a stub shaft with a locking notch immediately adjacent. Elongated extender arms, one for each hanger arm, each include a hollow end which can be received onto a locking stub shaft and have detent parts to be snapped into the adjacent locking notch. To release an extender arm from the hanger body, it is swung outwardly and upwardly a slight amount, which removes the detent from the notch allowing the extender arm to be pulled off the hanger body stub shaft. The outer end of an extender arm may be provided with a similar stub shaft enabling a second extender arm to be releasably locked to a first extender arm providing further total arm length.

  • Patent number: 4673116
Abstract: A clothes hanger having a first and second member. The first member has a supporting hook, a circular hinge section and a first supporting arm. The second member has a second supporting arm and a pivoting axle extending through the circular section for allowing the arms to move downwardly towards each other and a stop engagable with the top of the first supporting arm for limiting the extent of upward movement of the arms. A spring between the first and second members yieldably urges the first and second arms upwardly and away from each other to cause the stop to engage the first arm for supporting a garment from the arms, but allows the garment to be pulled downwardly and off of the hanger by causing movement of the arms downwardly and towards each other.

  • Patent number: 4673115
Abstract: A collapsible coat hanger formed entirely of molded polypropylene includes a hook supported by a body member having right and left hanger arms attached thereto by hinge straps. The body includes a stop member and outer stop shoulders. Right and left symmetrical hinged locking arms are connected by hinge straps to inner surfaces of the left and right hanger arms and are connected together at their upper inner edges by a center hinge strap. Each locking bar has an upper boss with a perpendicular bearing surface. The ends of a C-shaped integral spring are attached to the left and right locking arms, respectively, by hinge straps on either side of the center hinge. When the hanger is collapsed, the spring is in its relaxed configuration, and the center hinge strap is below the spring hinge straps. When the hanger is in its open configuration, the center hinge strap is above the spring hinge straps and engages the stop member.
