Example buckles may include a base including a first upstanding wall including a first boss extending therefrom and a second upstanding wall including a second boss extending therefrom. A housing may be mounted to a connector. The housing may include a hook section shaped to engage the first boss and the second boss and including a mouth for receiving the first boss and the second boss therethrough. A trigger may be configured to selectively obstruct the mouth. The trigger may include a first leg, a second leg, and one or more actuators operative to move the first leg and the second leg generally towards each other such that the first leg and the second leg may pass between the first boss and the second boss as the first boss and the second boss pass through the mouth.

Abstract: A baby nursing and carrying device, specifically one that allows a mother to switch breasts when breastfeeding a baby while still remaining covered and while still supporting the baby. When not in use for breastfeeding purposes, a mother can use the device for easily carrying the baby without strain on the mother's back and without having to support the baby with her hands, thus allowing the mother's hands to be free to do other things.

Abstract: A portable personal descending escape system that includes a flexible, folding body sack designed to hold a small child or animal that can be gradually lowered to the ground by a single individual. The body sack is designed to fold into a small storage bag. The body sack includes a closable top opening and at least one side panel made of mesh material. Attached to the side of the body sack near the top opening is a handle. Attached to the body sack is an elongated strap with a plurality of strap handles attached thereto. The strap handles are evently spaced apart along the handle so that one individual may gradually release the handle to safely lower the child or animal to the ground.

Abstract: A baby carrier comprising a shoulder harness featuring a detachable adjustable pouch system that may be worn or alternatively fastened to a secured object for supporting an infant. The detachable adjustable pouch may also feature a detachable adjustable support waist belt that may be worn by the wearer. The shoulder harness features retractable shoulder straps that may be used to securely extend the detachable adjustable pouch system away from wearer without having to detach the pouch or remove the infant while simultaneously allowing the wearer face to face access with the infant. The detachable adjustable pouch system may encapsulate and support an infant in a substantially upright sitting position. The detachable adjustable pouch system may be adjusted to accommodate infants of varying sizes. The weight of the infant may be incorporated as a design component of the seat portion of the pouch system.

Abstract: A device for relieving back strain for a user who is supporting a substantial weight which is off the user's vertical body axis at his or her front side. The device alleviates the aforementioned difficulties by utilizing the otherwise detrimental forces generated by the off-axis weight to press a rigid plate behind and adjacent to the spine of the device user against the user's spine. This rigid plate is preferably contoured to mirror the shape of the human spine. The device in one embodiment is used as a baby carrier. In another it is used with an abdominal support during pregnancy. In a third embodiment it provides support for the breasts of large breasted women.

Abstract: An infant carrier comprises a viscoelastic memory foam covered with a fabric sheath, a mat pad, a foam core, a securing strap, and raised sidewalls to provide comfort and security to the infant. The infant carrier comprises an adjustable strap to provide user comfort, thus prevents back and knee pain which is caused by incorrect posture and/or crossed legs when holding a sleeping infant. The infant carrier also permits an individual traveling with an infant to keep her/his hands free at any time while the infant is positioned securely in the carrier.

The carrier comprises an elongated strap attached to a flexible sheet-like body wherein the elongated strap can be worn as a neck strap or can be converted to form at least two shoulder straps, and the flexible sheet body is folded to form a positioning portion, so that the user may position the baby or small child directly in front of, or to the left or right side of the torso of an adult who is using and wearing the carrier, such that the baby can be positioned facing toward the adult or facing away from the adult.

The baby carrier may comprise a body covering panel from which may project a right strap and a left strap for engaging the torso of an adult wearer. An arrangement of fasteners which may be located near the bottom edge of the body covering panel provides a selection of connections one of which will cause the body covering panel to form a first closed loop for encircling the baby at the hips, and another of which will cause the body covering panel to form a second closed loop for encircling the baby at the hips. The respective circumferential dimensions of the first closed loop and second closed loop are different, so as to accommodate different hip dimensions, for example for babies of different ages and body sizes.

Abstract: The invention relates to a modular infant carrier apparatus and method. In one embodiment, a sling comprising a tail portion and two arm portions supports an infant when rings at the ends of the tail portion and arm portions are brought together at a single point above the infant. The rings are held together by a clamp, and the clamp allows the sling to be attached to space-saving receivers including a wall-mounted hook, a ceiling-mounted hook, a door-mounted hook, a hook attached to a heavy item of furniture, a stand-mounted hook, an over-door hook, or an item of clothing worn by an adult. In one embodiment, the sling can be moved from one receiver to another using a single hand, without removing the infant from the sling. Other embodiments are described and shown.

Abstract: An apparatus and method for making same utilizing a breathable mesh material having a reduced suffocation resistance level for infant and toddler use. The breathable mesh material includes an inner and outer fabric that includes larger openings on the front substructure than on the back substructure and a pile substructure is integrated and extends between the front and back substructures allowing air to substantially move effectively therethrough.

Abstract: A portable stretcher is provided so that two persons can manually transport an injured person in a seated position. The stretcher is made of a harness where the injured person can sit upon and two carrying straps for the two people transporting the injured person. The harness includes means for securing the injured person so that he cannot slip from the harness during the transport and further hurt himself.

Abstract: The present invention is directed to an adjustable sling for the carrying and transport of an infant, with features that impart improved safety, comfort and support for the infant. The adjustable sling has a sling body with an interior compartment for carrying the infant, and also has an adjustable shoulder strap that is extensible about a wearer's shoulder, with first and second opposing ends that are attached to the sling body. An adjustable lumbar belt is attached to the sling body and extensible about the wearer. In one embodiment, the sling has a retention flap that is attached to the sling body and retains the infant being carried by the sling to enhance the safety and security of the sling. In another embodiment, the sling has at least one support insert to support at least one of the infant's head and neck while the infant is carried in the interior compartment.

Abstract: An apparatus for carrying an infant upon the hip of an individual is disclosed. The apparatus includes a harness for supporting the infant. The apparatus also includes a far shoulder strap supported by one shoulder of the individual. The far shoulder strap has a front section resting on the chest region of the individual and a back section resting on a back region of the individual. The apparatus also includes a second near shoulder strap supported by the other shoulder of the individual. Each shoulder strap may include a pad for placement upon the shoulder to provide comfort while supporting the weight of the infant. The infant rests upon the hip of the individual. Both shoulders and one hip of the individual support the weight of the infant.

Abstract: An infant carrier with hood comprises a belt portion to be mounted on a user, and a support portion connected to the belt portion for supporting an infant. A bag-like accommodating portion is provided on an outside face of the support portion and a hood capable of being developed so as to cover the infant supported by the support portion is accommodated in the accommodating portion.

Abstract: The child carrier belt has an outer belt of inelastic material with a child support shelf extending laterally therefrom, and an elastic inner belt. The outer belt is formed of two plies of material, with a padded layer sandwiched therebetween. The outer ply of the outer belt is preferably shaped to form an extension when its portions to either side of the extension are attached congruent to the corresponding portions of the inner ply, thus forming a pocket between the two plies of the outer belt and integral with the two plies. A removable insert is placed within the pocket to provide support for a child or infant seat placed thereon. Alternatively, the pocket may be formed of a separate sheet of material from the outer ply of the outer belt. The inner belt has a single ply of elastic material either permanently or removably attached to the outer belt.

Abstract: An apparatus for assisting an adult in shoulder-carrying a child is provided, wherein the apparatus has a first cuff for clasping a first ankle of the child, second cuff for clasping the second ankle of the child, and a belt in selective engagement with the first and second cuffs, wherein the belt wraps around the back and under the arms of the adult for substantially hands-free carrying of the child on the shoulders. The first and second cuffs are removable from the belt, and selectively clasp the first and second ankles of the child by respective first and second fastening members, such as Velcro, snaps, and buckles. The first and second fastening members, in one example, generally prohibit fastening to one another when not fastened to the belt. A self-contained carrier is further provided, wherein carrier is configured to contain the first and second cuffs and belt for portability.

Abstract: A lightweight, strong, sturdy, and versatile evacuation sled is disclosed. The body of the sled may be manufactured from a single piece of material, stored flat, and folded into its functioning configuration. When folded, the sled has one or more straps that help hold it in its folded configuration and allow maneuvering or carrying the sled. The sled may be readily towed with a towing harness and may be moved down an incline, such as stairs, by means of a rope and belay device. The sled has a low coefficient of friction and is lightweight, allowing the sled to be readily moved and handled without requiring the assistance of multiple people. Additional sleds with foam inserts may be provided to carry equipment such as for life support. The sled may also provide surge capacity for facilities like hospitals, as the sled is designed to be inexpensive and essentially disposable.

The revolutionary technical design allows this device to be simple to make and simple to use, with the advantages of long-term usage and multiple functions, such as securing an infant onto a chair. All of these features are lacking in similar products in the prior art.

Abstract: The present invention is a carrier useful for supporting the weight of a child on the hips of a wearer. The child carrier includes a belt having an attached seat that is intended to be worn near the wearer's waist. A child may thus sit on the seat facing the child carrier wearer. In one embodiment, the rigid form is not removable from the belt pouch. In another embodiment, the seat includes a rigid form that is removable from the belt pouch. This structure allows for easy cleaning of the belt and seat pouch. In another embodiment, the seat is substantially rigid and includes one or more seat surfaces having a softer cover. This provides for a comfortable fit for the wearer and a comfortable seat for the child. In yet another embodiment, the belt is wide near the seat, effectively distributing the child's weight on the wearer's hips.

Abstract: A child or animal carrier and a method of carrying a child or animal on the user's body are described in this invention. The carrier has two loops 1, 2 joined together by a connecting device with an optional sash. The method of carrying the child or animal involves wearing the loops 1, 2 and placing the child or animal in the loops 1, 2 in a variety of positions. In certain positions the child is carried vertically on the front of the user's torso and either faces the same direction as the user or faces inward toward the user's torso; or the child is carried vertically on the user's back facing toward the user's back. In other positions, a child or animal can be fully or partially cradled in the loops 1, 2. In another position, the child or animal is slung in the loops 1, 2 and carried against the user's hip or at the front of the user's torso. The connecting device allows the user to adjust the position of the loops 1, 2 for comfort and back support.

Abstract: A nursing purse includes a crescent-shaped body having an outer cover shaped as a purse, an inner liner defining a space within the body for holding items, and a filling disposed between the outer cover and the an inner liner for permitting the body to act as a pillow for a nursing baby. A closure is connected to the outer cover and the inner liner for maintaining the items in the space. Straps are connected to opposite locations on the crescent-shaped body and configured to be tied together and slung over the shoulder as a purse or wrapped around the waist of a mother as a pillow for nursing a child. A method for converting a purse to a nursing pillow is also provided.

Two elongate sections (4a3, 4a4) extend from mutually opposite edge portions (4a1, 4a2) of first region (4a) of said folded part (4). The end portions (4a3?, 4a4?) of the elongate sections are provided with and/or co-act with means (5) for ready connection with or ready disconnection from the wearer-distal outer surface (4b?) of said second region (4b).

Another embodiment is directed to the combination of (1) an infant seat having a base, a bedding region within the base, and a handle projecting from the base over the bedding region, and (2) a flexible band forming a relatively smaller lower loop including a buckle for opening and closing the lower loop to capture the handle, and a relatively larger, upper loop for passing over the person's shoulder, whereby the infant seat with infant therein is fully supportable from the person's shoulder when the upper loop lies over the person's shoulder.

In this manner, the baby carrier with a structure implementing lateral hold, i.e. a state in which a newborn or a baby of which neck or lower body is not stable is held laid-down, front side vertical hold, and back side vertical hold, can be provided.

Abstract: A child carrier utilized to carry a child on the back of an adult is described. The child carrier includes a rigid frame having front and rear sections. The front section, adjacent to the user's back, comprises a pair of rigid columnar members joined at their top ends by a rigid yoke. In preferred embodiments, the yoke has slots formed therein to serve as a handle and to provide connecting points for the shoulder straps. A child restraint system is described wherein a floating loop is formed by the interconnection of the shoulder straps and the crouch strap. A rigid canopy is described comprising arcuate rigid members that connect to the front and rear sections of the rigid frame, and a flexible hood. A waist belt assembly is also described that permits a waist belt to be adjusted vertically to account for different builds of various users.

Abstract: The present invention provides a device designed to carry children in a chair like structure to be supported upon a carrier's shoulders. It is an improvement on previous shoulder mounted designs in that it is meant to be used by a lone person who may place the child in the seat, secure the child with straps and buckles, hoist the child and seat onto the shoulders, and secure the seat to the person by a second system of straps and buckles. It may also rest on any flat surface in a stable manner while the child is seated therein and indeed may double as a chair when not being used as a carrier.

The infant carrier includes a seat support configured to support an infant's bottom, a back support, which is integral with the seat support, a head support which is integral with the back support and a strap support system which is worn around the wearer's torso to support the infant in the infant carrier. The seat support is diaper-like in shape with a front notch to prevent chafing the infant. Preferably, the strap support system is made up of a single pair of straps. Preferably, there is a separation (e.g., a seam) between the back support and the head support which allows the head support to be folded down when not being used to support the infant's head.

One or more shoulder straps are used to carry the backpack. The support section becomes the portion of the backpack that rests against the user's back while being used. The container includes an enclosing sidewall attached to a bottom wall to establish a compartment. Importantly, the sidewall is formed with two indentations that extend into the compartment. The indentations allow the carrier to fit snugly against the person's hip or leg during walking. The container is further formed with two handle attachment points. Each handle attachment point is located between the pair of indentations. In this configuration, when the handle is attached to the container, the straight section of the handle is oriented parallel with the sides of the container that are formed with indentations.

Abstract: A garment to be worn by an adult for carrying an infant comprising a tubular carrier portion adapted to encircle the adult wearer from the shoulders to the waist with armholes being provided along sides of the garment to create a hands-free feature of the garment, a drawstring connected along the bottom of the garment to permit the garment to be pulled tight against the waist of the wearer, a second drawstring connected along the top edge of the garment, the rear portion of the garment being gathered, folded and vertically stitched to create a shorter vertical dimension of the garment in the rear as compared with the front, the front portion of the garment constituting a pouch in which a baby can rest, the top drawstring being adjustable for the comfort and safety of the baby.

Abstract: An improved child carrier capable of carrying both infants and larger toddlers. The device features a removable infant seat insert to accommodate the seating requirements of smaller infants in the larger seat panel. The infant seat insert may either be removably attached to the device or in an alternate embodiment is deployable from a pocket formed in the body support panel.
