  • Patent number: 5332195
Abstract: A rope traction device has a sheave which is driven and rotated to cause a traction rope to be wound on the sheave and thereby moves along the traction rope. The rope traction device includes a pair of annular side plates made of an elastic material and provided at sides of the sheave in such a manner that the interval between the inner surfaces of the side plates is made smaller than the diameter of the rope by a predetermined value and the side plates are secured to the sides of the sheave by means of boltheads of bolts arranged alternately in the circumferential direction of the sheave. The side plates may alternately be secured to the sides of the sheave by means of boltheads of bolts and nuts positioned at opposite positions in the circumferential direction of the sheave.

  • Patent number: 4042036
Abstract: This invention relates to an electric impact tool characterized by a pair of electric motor-driven counterrotating flywheels, at least one of which is movable relative to the other from a retracted inoperative position into an extended operative one closely adjacent the other flywheel whereby a ram is squeezed therebetween and impelled forward at high speed against a workpiece. The nosepiece of the tool frame is retractable although normally extended due to the spring bias urging it and the movable flywheel to which it is mechanically linked into disengaged position. These elements cooperate with one another and with a manually-actuated trigger such that the latter must be depressed and the nosepiece retracted in order to engage the high energy friction clutch defined by the flywheels so as to operate the ram. A flywheel speed control is provided for matching the ram impact to the workload.

Abstract: A mechanism for biasing a plurality of pinch rolls into engagement with a drive roll is provided wherein the biasing force is effected by a weight or weights. The pinch rolls are mounted on a common rotatable shaft, which rotates on supports which independently pivot about a common shaft, whereby the pinch rolls are free to align with a drive roll to provide full line contact therebetween and the biasing force is evenly distributed on the pinch rolls. The weights are pivotally mounted on the supports.

  • Patent number: 4033495
Abstract: A pinch roller cooperating with the drive capstan of a tape playback apparatus includes a spool on which there is mounted a resilient tire member to selectively engage the capstan with a magnetic tape held between the tire and the capstan when in a driving position. The tire includes a circumferentially extending recess formed therein having a crowned surface for self-centering of the tape thereon, and a pair of annular shoulders spanning opposite sides of said recess for positively engaging the capstan on opposite sides of the tape thereby transmitting drive forces from the capstan to the side of the tape opposite the capstan through the tire. The spool includes slots communicating with the inner surfaces of the tire permitting a bonding agent to securely bond the tire to the spool.

  • Patent number: 4031944
Abstract: A device for the opening and closing of cord operated closures, including a unidirectional electric drive motor and a pair of movable idler pulleys. The drive motor drives a frictional drive roller. A pair of flexible cords from the closure are singularly held against the drive roller by moving one or the other of the idler pulleys against the drive roller sandwiching a cord therebetween, one idler pulley causing one cord to move in one direction and the other idler pulley causing the cord to move in the other direction. An automatic shutoff mechanism is incorporated to shut off the drive motor and release the cord when sufficient tension is present on the cord, for instance, at the end of closure travel. The shutoff mechanism causes the drive roller and associated mechanism to travel along the cord a short distance thereby triggering a latch release mechanism.

  • Patent number: 3980207
Abstract: Disclosed is a pinch roller for use in continuous magnetic tape cartridges. In one preferred embodiment, the pinch roller has an inner and out cylindrically shaped wall interconnected by a plurality of flexible U-shaped webs. Each wall has a flange extending radially from the mid-point of the axial length of the roller. These flanges are interconnected by U-shaped webs. The U-shaped webs extend above and below the mid-point in alternate and adjoining relationship so that the outer wall of the roller can move to an eccentric position with respect to the inner wall and/or permit the outer wall to align itself with the capstan should the cartridge be disposed with the principal axis of the roller at an angle to the capstan.
