  • Patent number: 6651858
Abstract: An adjustable wrappage film feeding device includes a chassis having end plates rotatably supporting a driving shaft therebetween. The driving shaft is driven by a motor via a worm—worm gear transmission. Two first bevel gears are mounted on the driving shaft to be rotatable in unison with the driving shaft while being allowed to axially move with respect to the driving shaft. A screw rod is rotatably supported by the end plates and threadingly engages two movable carriages that are spaced from each other a distance. By rotating the screw rod, the carriages are driven toward/away from each other and thus changing the distance therebetween. Each carriage rotatably carries a roller adapted to drivingly engage and convey a film in a predetermined direction toward an article to be packaged. Each roller is coupled to a corresponding one of the first bevel gears by a second bevel gear that mates the corresponding first bevel gear.

Abstract: For use in a web-handling apparatus, a cylinder module accumulates and de-accumulates web in a controlled manner. A frame supports first and second parallel main cylinders. The first cylinder rotates continuously, while the second cylinder operates in a non-uniform manner. A third main cylinder remains parallel with the first and second axes while moving perpendicular to those axes. The web passes around the first cylinder through the first nip, thence to and around the periphery of the third cylinder, thence to and partially around the periphery of the second cylinder and through the second nip. The web spans from the third cylinder are substantially parallel. An endless belt associated with each end of the third cylinder ensures that the third cylinder occupies an axis location and a rotational position which substantially control the web stress as the web passes through the cylinders.

  • Patent number: 6168062
Abstract: A slack puller has symmetrical sheave assemblies on each side of a cable path. The sheave assemblies each include a driven sheave mounted on an arm. When the sheaves are engaged with the cable by an actuator, tension in the cable pulls the sheaves in a way which tends to increase the compressional forces exerted by the sheaves on the cable. The self actuating nature of the slack puller allows compressional forces on the cable to be kept small until the cable comes under tension. The sheaves are driven by positive displacement hydraulic motors connected in series with a hydraulic pump. This permits the sheaves to turn quickly when the cable is not under tension and slows the sheaves as tension in the cable increases. The slack puller operates more quickly and causes less cable damage than conventional slack pullers. The slack puller has particular application in skyline logging operations where its compact size is an additional advantage.

Abstract: A drive assembly for operatively rotating a web spreading roll of a paper mill or the like utilizes a toothed belt for transferring rotational motion from a motor-operated driving toothed pulley to a freewheeling or otherwise rotatably mounted driven toothed pulley. The driven pulley is, in turn, coupled to at least one of the plural rotary driven roll segments of and that are carried on the curved shaft of the web spreading roll. To minimize wear on the toothed belt, the driving and driven pulleys are fixedly mounted in positions of permanent alignment with one another, as by mounting both the drive motor and the driven pulley on the shaft bearings housing located at one end of the spreading roll shaft. A flexible coupling, as in the form of a rubber or otherwise suitably resilient bellows or the like, connects the driven pulley to the at least one roll segment for transferring rotation of the driven pulley to the roll segment so as to operatively rotate the web spreading roll.

Abstract: A workpiece feeding device includes a housing with a vertical support wall which has shaft mounting sleeves. First shafts extend horizontally and respectively through the sleeves. Two bearings are provided in two ends of each sleeve between the first shaft and the sleeve and are made of a powder-metallurgy process. Swing seats are mounted respectively to rear ends of the sleeves and have vertical seat walls which, in turn, have first holes for insertion of the sleeve and second holes for insertion of second shafts. Bushings project from the seat walls and have auxiliary seats which extend to the sleeves for connection therewith. As such, the machine can operate stably during the workpiece feeding operation.

  • Patent number: 5682718
Abstract: A yarn being spun in a spinning station of a spinning machine is drawn off with an apparatus which includes a pair of rollers for clamping the spun yarn in a gap between the rollers and transporting the spun yarn. The rollers include a draw-off roller being driven continuously in a draw-off direction at a given circumferential speed and a switchable feed roller for contacting the draw-off roller and for being driven through friction by the draw-off roller when contacting the draw-off roller. A method for drawing off the spun yarn includes positioning the yarn to be drawn off between the rollers while the feed roller is not contacting the draw-off roller. The feed roller is driven with a fluid in a circumferential direction and accelerated to a circumferential speed being at most the given circumferential speed. The feed roller is then placed in contact with the draw-off roller.

  • Patent number: 5627619
Abstract: An automatic photographic developing machine allows a rack to be pushed up only if a feed mechanism of such rack is put under excessive load, and is made of fewer parts and is simple in structure. The rack has a feed mechanism for feeding photosensitive material and is inserted in a treating tank. The rack has an input shaft at its upper portion. The input shaft carries a helical gear in mesh with a worm of a drive shaft. A resilient piece made of synthetic resin is supported on a presser holder slidable in the axial direction of the drive shaft. An end of the resilient member is located opposite the end of the input shaft to prevent the rack from being pushed up. If the force urging the rack upward exceeds the resilience of the resilient piece due to an excessive load applied to the feed mechanism, the resilient piece is resiliently deformed by the input shaft. The rack is thus pushed up, and the helical gear is disengaged from the worm.

Abstract: A ticket releasing apparatus comprising two spaced lateral boards, an upper and a lower guiding plates inclinedly disposed between the lateral boards, a roller and a driving pulley respectively disposed at recessed front ends of the guiding plates and frictionally engaged with each other, and a motor disposed under the driving pulley. The tickets are fed through a space between the guiding plates toward the roller and driving pulley. The motor drives a gear set to drive two driven gears and a brake ratchet which via a transmission sleeve makes the driving pulley rotate and frictionally drive the roller to rotate in a reverse direction so as to send out the ticket between the two guiding plates. By means of the engagement between the brake ratchet and the driven ratchet, a linkage connected with the driven ratchet is able to make a stopper plate disposed above the roller prevent the roller from rotating and thus prevent the ticket from being pulled outside by an unauthorized person.
