Passive Guide Patents (Class 226/196.1)
  • Patent number: 11318671
Abstract: A web sheet processing system for cutting and/or stacking AM composite printed sheets from the web combines web edge waste with the cut sheets, stacking the waste with the 3D object. The waste may be removed during the cleaning of the 3d object (e.g., by abrasive blasting, chemical removal, dissolution) to result in a 3D printed object. This approach eliminates the separate need for waste removal of a rewound web of substrate material waste. In examples, a tractor drive transport assembly ensures consistent web/sheet motion via tractor feeding along the edges of the web/sheet to a stacker subsystem. The tractor drive transport assembly, in combination with a drive guide, positions the cut sheets over the stacker subsystem for release onto the top of a stack, with the substrate waste that would normally be processed downstream stacked with the 3D object for removal during a normal cleaning of the object.

  • Patent number: 11149352
Abstract: Method of performing atomic layer deposition. The method comprises supplying a precursor gas towards a substrate, using a deposition head including one or more gas supplies, including a precursor gas supply. The precursor gas reacts near a surface of the substrate for forming an atomic layer. The deposition head has an output face comprising the gas supplies, which at least partly faces the substrate surface during depositing the atomic layer. The output face has a substantially rounded shape defining a movement path of the substrate. The precursor-gas supply is moved relative to the substrate by rotating the deposition head while supplying the precursor gas, for depositing a stack of atomic layers while continuously moving in one direction. The surface of the substrate is kept contactless with the output face by means of a gas bearing.

  • Patent number: 11046544
Abstract: An apparatus for controlling cross curl in corners of sheets between in-line transports includes a curved baffle placed between the two transports. A thin layer of high velocity air is applied to the curved baffle only at lead edge corner regions of the sheets. The high velocity air layer, which will have a tendency to follow the curved baffle (Coanda effect), will divert corners of the sheets (Bernoulli effect) towards the curved baffle. By positioning a curved baffle between the two transports and by applying a uniform air stream to it, a lower pressure area will be created. This will flatten the corners of the sheets and ensure passage between downstream baffles and acquisition by a downstream transport.

  • Patent number: 10926463
Abstract: A filament guide that guides thermoplastic filament to an object being manufactured. A deposition head comprising the disclosed filament guide provides a filament to the intended deposition point. The filament guide comprises a guide member having a filament groove configured to guide the filament along a path of travel. The groove has an upstream end that is configured to receive the filament from a source and a downstream end that is configured to direct the filament toward the deposition point in the intended direction. A notch at the downstream end of the guide member enables the filament to travel toward the deposition point. The portions of the guide member on either side of the notch act to keep the filament centered laterally. A plate that is transparent to electromagnetic radiation from a heat source covers the groove and permits the electromagnetic radiation to reach the filament while providing added support.

Abstract: A sheet conveyance apparatus comprising: a sheet conveyance path; a loop forming unit that is disposed on the sheet conveyance path and bends, in a loop, the sheet to be conveyed; and a guide unit that is stepwise high at both sides whereas low at the center, as viewed in a sheet conveyance direction, and extends in the sheet conveyance direction, wherein the sheet sagging in the loop by the loop forming unit enters a guide region being defined between opposite guide faces of paired steps in the stepwise guide unit and having a width according to the width of the sheet, so that the side edges of the sheet abut against the guide faces, thus correcting the skewing of the sheet in the sheet conveyance direction.

Abstract: A triple roll entry guide where the guide has two sets of operation, a first which operates as a standard triple roller entry guide. Here the guide functions as a standard guide wherein three levers are pivoted about a work product axis to guide the work product into the reduction rolls of the mill. The guide will accept a predetermined size range of work products. In this instance the rollers of the guide overcome the force holding the levers in their usual working position and force the levers to assume a new position which the work product is accepted in the guide. This is the second method of operation, and in it the levers of the guide are “preloaded” so that the guide functions as a standard guide under prescribed conditions. Under conditions which lead to the acceptance of a work product of a larger diameter in the predetermined size range the levers of the guide overcome the force which limits the maximum position of the levers of the guide and the work product is accepted by the guide.

At least two assemblies, which carry either a first and a second web or a single web, periodically overlap each other in an alternating fashion such that a material may be placed upon their respective carried webs in a transverse manner. The first and second assemblies translate in a direction of web movement in order to modify the velocity of the web carried upon the assembly. Thus, with the velocities of the assemblies capable of being varied, the material may be placed in a transverse manner upon the moving web along with various other orientations.
