  • Patent number: 8827140
Abstract: Coiled tubing with a secured conduit and a method for manufacturing same. A slickline held by a retainer is introduced to the coiled tubing manufacturing process by attaching the retainer and slickline to a metal plate, prior to the metal plate being welded into a tubular. The slickline is unaffected by the welding and heat treatment process or processes. To install the conduit into the coiled tubing, the coiled tubing is unrolled from the reel, the conduit is attached to an end of the slickline and the other end of the slickline pulled to fish the conduit through the coiled tubing, resulting in conduit held within the retainer inside the coiled tubing. In embodiments where a slickline is not used, the conduit can be pumped into the retainer or dropped therein by gravity when the coiled tubing is hung in a wellbore. Alternatively, a heat resistant conduit may be secured within the coiled tubing by attachment directly to the coiled tubing or held therein by a retainer.

During the drawing process, since the cylindrical body does not come into direct contact with the drawing die, neither scratches nor baking cracks are produced on the outside surface of the cylindrical body.

  • Patent number: 5011064
Abstract: A device for making a doubled-walled pipe having a wear-resistant internal pipe and a shock-resistant external pipe. The internal pipe is prefabricated. The external pipe is made from an initial pre-curved metal sheet. The shaping of the external pipe around the internal pipe is effected by means of tools which are pressed against the metal sheet. The parts of the tools are placed directly on the metal sheet on at least three lines distributed around the circumference and extending longitudinally over the length of the sheet. Using the parts of the tools, a clamping force is applied to the metal sheet perpendicularly or parallel to the edge of the metal sheet which is placed around the internal pipe to form the doubled-walled pipe.

  • Patent number: 5000369
Abstract: Method for continuously manufacturing plastic-lined metallic pipe. The method includes an extruder having an output providing a plastic sleeve and further includes a continuous roll-forming tubing mill production line. This production line includes a series of forming rolls which progressively deform a substantially flat steel strip to a generally tubular configuration as the strip moves along a straight-line longitudinal path. The production line further includes an electrical resistance or high frequency welder which continuously welds the lateral edges of the moving strip to complete the pipe. The method also includes a feed for the plastic sleeve into the incipient metal pipe upstream of the welder. The plastic sleeve has an outside diameter slightly smaller than the inside diameter of the metallic pipe in its as-formed condition. Furthermore, the plastic sleeve maintains a generally tubular configuration from the time it enters the pipe until the manufacture of the plastic-lined pipe is completed.

  • Patent number: 4889276
Abstract: A method and apparatus for forming and bonding metal assemblies using an internally heated chamber. The parts can be both superplastic formed and diffusion bonded to other parts. A closable chamber contains a heating element near the chamber center. A ceramic die at least partially surrounding the heating element has a forming surface toward the heating element. The inner wall of the chamber is lined with a pressure bladder. A granular material, conical ceramic support, or extensible bladder fills the space between ceramic die and chamber inner wall. With the chamber closed, the heater is activated while an inert gas under pressure is introduced between heater and die and the bladder if used is pressurized. The bladder or packed granules support the outer die surface while the gas pressure presses metal parts on the die forming surface against the die. The metal parts are formed and bonded together by the substantially isostatic forces thereon.
