  • Patent number: 4763833
Abstract: A tote carrier formed from a generally planar blank of sheet material cut and scored to comprise a rectangular bottom panel, a pair of side wall panels and a pair of end wall panels hingedly connected to the bottom panel, and a pair of end foldover panels hingedly connected to the ends of each side wall panel. The side and end wall panels are folded upwardly to define an open top receptacle region. The end foldover panels are folded inwardly and may be attached either to the inner or outer surfaces of the end wall panels to secure the carrier in an upright position. Striplike portions along the top of each side wall panel, and an adjacent striplike portion of each end foldover panel, are separated from the corresponding side wall or end foldover panel by a cut line to define a pair of handle straps, while each end of the handle straps remain connected to the adjoining end foldover panels.

  • Patent number: 4601425
Abstract: A new carton blank configuration and a method of folding it to provide a liquid-tight, nonwicking carton or container bottom is disclosed. The scoring pattern and bottom panel configuration of the carton make possible the formation of a carton bottom having no exposed edges of the carton blank on the inside of the container without folding or slitting any bottom panel prior to the carton folding and sealing process. The carton blank is shaped and scored for folding and is substantially a flat container bottom. An extension tab extending from one of the two bottom panels allows for a nonwicking surface to be formed and tucked into the interior of the carton bottom during the bottom-forming process as the edges of the two bottom panels contact each other. The inside surface of the bottom panel not having an extension tab contacts the extension tab, folding the extension tab back along a score line.

  • Patent number: 4586649
Abstract: A food package for cooking popcorn in a microwave oven which comprises an inner pouch containing the popcorn kernels, oils and seasoning, an outer paperboard carton in the form of an inverted truncated pyramid and a stand therefor which is adapted to be packaged inside the carton. When the package is to be used, the outer carton is inverted and opened, the stand is removed, erected and placed in a microwave oven. The inverted outer carton is then placed on the stand which insulates the lower portion of the carton. In this position, the popping area of the package is in a position to be affected by maximum microwave energy efficiency and is protected against heat loss for maximum heat efficiency whereby, a higher ratio of popped to unpopped kernels can be obtained.
