Including An Access Opening In A Sidewall Intended To Permit Lateral Insertion Or Removal Of Content Patents (Class 229/122)
  • Patent number: 7909163
Abstract: The carton of this invention is capable of carrying the plurality of containers stacked upon their ends in two tiers with a unique dispenser that permits the dispensing of containers on their sides. The dispenser is formed in a top side wall and extends into the end wall with most of the end wall being torn open but leaving a portion near the bottom side wall to prevent the bottom layer of containers from rolling out. Angled projections in the dispensing end of the carton near the top panel and bottom panel prevent the top layer of containers from rolling out. A divider may be inserted between the two tiers of containers to facilitate loading the carton and preventing the containers from accidentally rolling out when the dispenser is open.

Abstract: A new and improved packaging structure comprises a base member and a pair of oppositely disposed upstanding side wall portions, wherein at least one of the interior corner regions, defined at the intersection between one of the side wall portions and the base member, is scored so as to permit the side wall portion to be pivotally moved between a first position perpendicular to the base member, and a second position coplanar with the base member. In this manner, articles can be inserted in a sideways direction into the packaging structure. In addition, the articles will be properly aligned and spaced from the side wall portion when the side wall portion is returned to its perpendicular position so as to accommodate a dependent side wall portion of a second packaging structure so as to form a composite packaging assembly.

Abstract: A blank capable of being formed into a carton for enclosing a plurality of containers that includes a first side panel, a top panel, a second side panel, a bottom panel, an adhesive flap, at least one first end flap extending along a first marginal area of the blank, and at least one second end flap extending along a second marginal area of the blank. A tear line is formed in the top panel, the first side panel, and the second side panel. In some embodiments, the tear line in each side panel extends perpendicular from the top panel and continues to at least one turn to proceed into side panel end flaps. One or more stair steps can be included in each side panel along the tear line. Separation of a detachable portion from the carton along the tear line creates an opening through which the containers can be removed.
