Box Includes Flexible Outer Wrapper Patents (Class 229/203)
  • Patent number: 11718460
Abstract: A structure is described for forming a wrapper, e.g., for print media, where the structure includes lines of weakness for facilitating a user's tearing of the wrapper to access the contents. The lines of weakness may include a first line of weakness that extends along a fold line of an envelope fold forming one of the front or rear or right sides of the wrapped package, as well as a second line of weakness that extends substantially perpendicularly to the respective longitudinal fold lines and a third line of weakness that extends between the first line of weakness and the second line of weakness and is disposed at a non-zero angle with respect to each. In this way, a tear initiated near the first line of weakness and may be propagated along the other lines of weakness to create an opening for accessing the product.

  • Patent number: 6478149
Abstract: A rigid pack of smoking articles is made to have improved shelf life and to be resealable. A barrier material is sealed around the rigid pack. The rigid pack has a potential or actual access aperture extending from a top face into a major face. The barrier material has a line of severance or weakening defining a flap, which is in register with the potential or actual access aperture. Over the flap is a layer which overlaps it on each severable side with a portion having permanently-tacky adhesive. A non-adhered pull tab is preferably provided on the layer. To open the pack the user lifts the flap and if necessary the access aperture. After removal of a smoking article the gap in the barrier layer is reclosed and resealed by the repositioning of the adhesive layer, carrying with it the flap of barrier material. A machine for assembling the pack is also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 5201463
Abstract: A packaging system is provided for a plurality of packages which are vulnerable to damage when cut into by a sharp instrument. The packaging system includes a rectangular container enclosing all of the packages and being formed of a rectangular lid and a rectangular tray configuration, preferably in a mating and nonoverlapping configuration, to form the container. A shrink wrap material is applied about the container and shrunk into engagement therewith so as to encircle the container in three dimensions and thus hold the lid and tray in the mating configuration. The shrink wrap material is suitably weakened to allow a manual tearing of the shrink wrap material to release the lid and hence open the container. The shrink wrap material is weakened by a longitudinal slot located adjacent the lid and extending from one side of the lid to an opposite side and two paired series of weakenings in the shrink wrap material.

  • Patent number: 5121879
Abstract: Folded paper tissues are generally packed in thin foil or film. The pack is provided with a tear-open aid having a tear-open flap (27) limited by perforation lines and an adhesive tape (33) partially covering the tear-open flap. For reasons of better handling and economical production of the pack, the tear-open flap (27) is connected to form a unit with part of the end wall (14), namely with an outer longitudinal flap (25) of the same or an adjoining flap (42) or extension (43) formed by the end wall, which can be moved with the aid of the adhesive tape into opening and closing position. In connection with the folding of the end wall (14), the design of the tear-open aid creates an advantageous extraction opening (37) by means of the given width of an inner longitudinal flap (26).
