  • Patent number: 5501758
Abstract: A reusable and collapsible container having a collapsed configuration for storage and shipment and an assembled configuration for containing a product. The container is formed from a polymeric sheet and has substantially flat panels, hinges connecting adjacent panels, and releasable fasteners on at least some of the panels for holding the panels in an assembled configuration. The sheet has opposing walls separated by longitudinally extending webs. A portion of the hinges cross the longitudinally extending webs and are formed by hot compression of at least one wall of the sheet. Another portion of the hinges are longitudinally extending and are formed by cold compression of at least one wall of the sheet.

  • Patent number: 5489061
Abstract: A carton including a bevel panel and adjacent areas comprised of multi-ply construction. The bevel panel of each ply is defined in part by spaced score lines. The score lines of each ply are spaced apart a distance greater than the spacing of the score lines of the next outer ply. This results in the plies of the bevel panel being slightly spaced from each other. An example of such bevel panels is in the type of container formed by wrapping a slotted flexible sheet about rigid end panels having corner areas which extend through the slots.

  • Patent number: 5447270
Abstract: This invention relates to improvements in the top-to-bottom compressive strength of corrugated fiber containers through the use of a minimum amount of extra fiber. Such structures of this type, generally, employ strip and patch laminations which provide minimal additional fiber and maximal reinforcement in the areas of the corrugated container panels that are under the highest compressive stresses when the containers are subjected to compressive loads.

  • Patent number: 5439168
Abstract: A paper box for packing detergent which is provided at its inner surface with a strip-shaped inlet so that the inlet closes a tear tape portion to be cut off when the box is opened and which is designed to reduce manufacturing cost, improve productivity and maintain watertightness. The paper box has four vertical wall members, top members extended from upper ends of the vertical wall members, bottom members extended from lower ends of the vertical wall members, a tear tape portion integrally formed at upper portions of three vertical wall members selected from the four vertical wall members, and a strip-shaped inlet attached to inner surfaces of the three vertical wall members such that the tear tape portion is covered with the inlet so as to ensure watertightness against the tear tape portion.

  • Patent number: 5388758
Abstract: A clamshell type container formed of a unitary blank of paperboard. The rear wall of the container includes a hinge line to permit opening and closing of the top cover. Buckling sometimes occurs at this hinge line upon cover opening. According to this invention four curved cut lines are provided in the common rear wall having the hinge line. The ends of these cut lines are pairwise contiguous and are spaced only slightly apart. The four pairs of contiguous cut line ends form the corners of an imaginary rectangle. Two opposite corners of the rectangle lie on the hinge line, while the remaining two opposite corners lie laterally of the hinge line on respective opposite sides thereof.

  • Patent number: 5386937
Abstract: A carton for housing nails and like sharp objects is provided which includes a top side defined by opposing pairs of closure flaps and including associated minor flaps which extend outwardly and cooperate with adjacent outwardly extending closure flaps when the carton is in its open position so as to effectively extend the depth of the carton by a predetermined amount. The minor flaps are integrally defined with lines of weakness whereby the flaps can be folded inwardly with respect to the associated closure flaps when the carton is in its closed position so that the top side is defined as a smooth surface by the mutual engagement of adjacent closure flaps without being obstructed by the minor flaps.

  • Patent number: 5377905
Abstract: The packaging box is made from a one-piece blank and comprises a receptacle portion and a lid portion bounded by perforation lines made in the receptacle portion. A closure flap is fixed to the lid portion. The box is opened for the first time by acting upon this flap to separate the perforated lid portion from the rest of the receptacle portion. When the box is reclosed, the lid portion is kept shut by inserting the closure flap into the box. The packaging box is fluid-tight after manufacture so that no additional wrapping sheet is needed. The blank may be made of thin cardboard and may be provided with a self-sealing coating.

  • Patent number: 5273206
Abstract: A foldable box having, in addition to primary folding lines and flat segments, a number of latent destructive lines in a direction perpendicular to the length of the unfolded box. The latent destructive lines do not interfere with the formation and the normal function of the box. However, they serve to facilitate an irreversible destruction of the box, when the box is forced to be folded into a log-like structure.

  • Patent number: 5255842
Abstract: A packaging container is manufactured through fold forming, vacuum forming, injection molding or other processing to shape a plastically deformable, flexible material, comprising a tubular container body with two longitudinal edges which delimit between them a mainly flat container wall. In order to prevent deformation and/or cracking of the packaging container with normal handling of the side walls, the packaging container is provided with reinforcing elements formed through plastic deformation of the wall material in the region of the longitudinal edges. The reinforcing elements strengthen and stiffen the container and enable it to be conveniently gripped with the hand without the risk of the edges and/or the adjacent side walls being cracked or deformed.

  • Patent number: 5232149
Abstract: A tote container which is cut to form a blank from a single sheet of double-faced corrugated plastic material, the blank being scored to define individual panels, and those panels folded to an upright position to define a receptacle region. The corrugations of the plastic material define a grain, and the blank for the tote container is oriented upon the sheet of corrugated plastic material such that the lines of grain cross the scored fold lines separating the panels at an acute angle thereto, thereby permitting individual lines of grain to extend under the receptacle region of the tote container and traverse the tote container both laterally and longitudinally. This prevents the planar plies of the double-faced corrugated plastic sheet material from being perforated, and the convoluted intermediate ply from being crushed along the length thereof, when the blank is scored.
