  • Patent number: 11486817
Abstract: In a detecting device, infrared light is emitted by a first source in a detection target space; second light of a wavelength different from the infrared light is emitted by a second source in a direction different from a direction of the infrared light being emitted by the first source. A reflecting section provided in the direction of the second light being emitted reflects the second light. A light receiver receives infrared light emitted by the first source and reflected by the object, and receives infrared light radiating from the object as a result of the object being irradiated with the infrared light emitted by the first source and being irradiated with the second light emitted by the second source and reflected by the reflecting section. A detector detects the object based on the infrared light received by the light receiver.

Abstract: Methods and systems for registering a relationship between users are disclosed. A first electronic device transmits a request to provide relationship information to a computing device. The computing device generates a transaction code and transmits the code to the first electronic device. The first electronic device generates a symbology corresponding to the code and displays the symbology. A second electronic device scans the symbology and decodes the symbology to obtain the transaction code. The second electronic device transmits the code to the computing device, which associates relationship information for the users of the first and second electronic devices. The first electronic device receives the relationship information for the user of the second electronic device from the computing device, and the second electronic device receives the relationship information for the user of the first electronic device.

Abstract: A portable device includes coded information reading means, digital image acquisition means and an illuminator, associated with the acquisition means for acquiring images. The illuminator is powerable by a driving signal which corresponds to a first current signal in a first operating mode for illuminating an image to be acquired and is powerable by the driving signal which corresponds to a second current signal in a second operating mode for emitting a visual indication indicating the outcome of the reading of the coded information, read by coded information reading means. The illuminator, which acts as a flash to acquire an image in the first operating mode, thus also acts as a visual indication of the reading outcome in the second operating mode and illuminates with a continuous or intermittent light the space in front of the illuminator to indicate to an operator that the coded information has been read.

  • Patent number: 8596541
Abstract: This disclosure describes barcode scanning techniques for an image capture device. The image capture device may automatically detect a barcode within an image while the image capture device is operating in a non-barcode image capture mode, such a default image capture mode. In one aspect, the detection of the barcode within the image may be based on a combination of identified edges and low intensity regions within the image. The image capture device may configure, based on the detection of the barcode, one or more image capture properties associated with the image capture device to improve a quality at which the images are captured. The image capture device captures the image in accordance with the configured image capture properties. The techniques may effectively provide a universal and integrated front-end for producing improved quality images of barcodes without requiring significant interaction with a user via a complicated user interface.
