Contacting Working Surfaces Of Rotary Comminuting Member Patents (Class 241/167)
  • Patent number: 4119277
Abstract: An improved apparatus for cutting scrap tires is disclosed wherein compressed scrap tires are cut. A scrap tire is compressed, then fed into a plurality of rotary disc cutters axially spaced along a shaft and rotated against a stationary anvil. In the preferred embodiment, cutting tools are vertically mounted on the rotary disc cutters, whose outer circumference is recessed in a concave arc starting at the top of the cutting tool and ending at that portion of the cutting tool closest to the center. The cutting tools are off-set along successive rotary disc cutters rather than placed in a line parallel to the shaft. Anvil tools having at least one cutting edge are mounted on the stationary anvil for ease in maintaining cutting edges opposite the rotating cutting tools. Cleaner bars facilitate the removal of cut scrap tires from the rotary disc cutters and their subsequent collection.

  • Patent number: 4089478
Abstract: A seed mill is described, particularly suitable for grinding wheat to produce flour for home-made bread, in which two rollers are rotatable with respect to one another in an open topped housing which is formed in two parts. The rollers are horizontally and vertically offset with respect to one another. An adjustment screw is provided to pivot the two housing parts towards and away from one another whereby a fine adjustment of the spacing between the rollers can be achieved.

  • Patent number: 4018392
Abstract: A shredding machine having a housing, a first and a second parallel spaced apart rotatably driven shafts rotatably mounted in the housing at end plates fixedly attached to the housing, driving means in the housing and operably connected to the shafts to drive the shafts counter to each other, a plurality of interfitting cutters having annular cutting surfaces disposed on the shafts and locked against rotation on the shafts by locking means, at least two support rods fixedly attached at their ends to the end plates, the support rods being parallel to each other and to the first and second shafts, a comber interposed between each of the cutters, each comber having at least two openings therethrough, one support shaft in registration with and of slightly smaller diameter than one of the openings to provide mechanical support for each comber, the first and second shafts in registration with and of slightly smaller diameter than another of the openings in each comber to provide further mechanical support for each

  • Patent number: 3985306
Abstract: In a forage harvester having a rotatable cutterhead and adjacently-positioned shearbar, an upper rear feed roll is mounted above and forwardly of the shearbar for pivotal movement relative to an upper front feed roll by a pair of arms which interconnect the rolls. A tensioning assembly is coupled to each of the arms. An actuatable latching mechanism is connecting to the tensioning assembly and movable to a first position for placing the tensioning assembly in a first condition in which the rear feed roll is biased toward a lower operative position adjacent the cutterhead and shearbar.

  • Patent number: 3975798
Abstract: Safety device of a carding machine provided with a pair of crushing rollers wherein a scraping plate is urged to the cylindrical surface of each crushing roller for the entire length thereof. Each scraping plate is turnably supported by a pin so that it can be moved away from the corresponding crushing roller when required. The turning motion of each scraping plate away from or toward the corresponding crushing roller, can be carried out simultaneously by means for setting the position of each scraping plate and a manually operable handle which actuates the setting means. The main driving motor of the carding machine is connected, in series with a main switch and a control switch, to an electric source. The control switch is closed when the handle is operated so as to fix the scraping plates in contacting condition with the corresponding crushing rollers and, on the other hand, the control switch is opened when the scraping plates are moved away from the corresponding crushing rollers.

  • Patent number: 3976253
Abstract: A milling apparatus having a milling disc which is rotated about its axis by a motor and a tubular milling member having one end supported in contact with the milling disc with the axis of the tubular milling member being eccentric with respect to the axis of the milling disc and held in place by a support arm. Milling good is supplied to the tubular member by means of a funnel member supported in the tubular member. A variable spring system permits the adjustment of pressure between the tubular member and the disc. The milled material is removed from the milling disc by means of a scraper or by centrifugal force.
