    Abstract: A tool body is cold formed by inserting a blank into a die which defines a portion of the outer surface of the tool body after which a punch applies an impact to the blank causing the outer surface of the blank to conform to the contour of the die. The completed tool has an elongate hub with a cylindrical forward portion having a diameter sized to rotatably fit within the bore of a tool holder and a rearward portion with a diameter a little less than the that of the forward portion. The smaller diameter rearward portion facilitates the insertion and alignment of the tool in the tool holder.

A circular cutter head includes a plurality of semicircular engaging grooves at the rim thereof for receiving a plurality of hilts with corresponding arched surface. A semicircular cavity corresponding to the semicircular screw hole of the cutter head is provided in the middle of the top of the hilt and equipped with an annular flange. Therefore, the semicircular screw hole and the semicircular cavity form a full circular hole to receive a trimming screw with an annular groove in the middle thereof. The annular flange of the semicircular cavity is engaged in the annular groove of the trimming screw while the threaded member of the trimming screw joins the semicircular screw hole of the semicircular engaging grooves.

    Abstract: A chopper for chopping items such as fibers, fiber strands, ribbon, etc. by passing the items continuously in a loose, unwound, condition through the nip of a blade roll and a backup roll having a working layer on its outer periphery. The chopper of the present invention uses one or more rolls that are radially expandable and retractable to replace the blade roll and/or the backup roll on the prior art choppers so that worn blades and/or a worn working layer can be more quickly and more easily replaced with a new or repaired working layer or blade holder containing sharp blades. The chopper of the present invention eliminates the need to carry large, heavy, awkward rolls through the fiber forming rooms or areas where the items are being chopped and also to transport such rolls back and forth to the location where they are being rebuilt.

    Abstract: The present invention provides a rock crusher tooth design which when exposed to material flows during operation of the rock/material crusher will increase the wear life of the tooth by resisting wear caused by a material flow across, onto, and around the tooth. It is a general object of the present invention to provide a rock crusher with a plurality of teeth formed integrally therein. The tooth has a design that significantly improves the wear resistance of each tooth. The tooth structure includes a plurality of hard material compact inserts integrated within the tooth structure. The compact inserts are integrally formed with the teeth into unitary structures. In an embodiment of the invention, hard abrasive material, such as tungsten-carbide compact inserts, are appropriately positioned in a steel cast tooth mold, the steel flows into spaces between and around the tungsten-carbide inserts trapping them in a steel matrix. The casting method results in an integral unitary steel tooth.

    Abstract: When material is thrown in a hopper, material of small particle diameter is loaded in between breaking teeth on two rotors and transferred toward a crushing space between the rotors by rotation. The material of small particle diameter is pressed by compression teeth on one rotor against cutting teeth on the other rotor, thereby causing compressive crushing. When material of small particle diameter clogs the crushing space and stays therein, the cutting teeth cut the material to form a gap. The breaking teeth on the two rotors move odd-shaped material or the like toward the crushing space by similar action. Consequently, the odd-shaped material assumes such a posture that it is caught between the breaking teeth, and is crushed by the breaking teeth or cut by the wedge effect.
