Abstract: A system for separating carpet U's from carpet backing is described. The separation method includes a means for transporting a blend of carpet U's and backing material containing at least backing fibers and an adhesive material to a shaker box. The shaker box has at least one opening for receiving the blend. One or more portions of the shaker box have one or more orifices. The shaker box causes the carpet U's to pass through the orifices when the shaker box is activated leaving at least the backing fibers in the shaker box. The U's are passed to a cleaning means where said U's are treated to remove portions of adhesive material present on said U's. The backing fibers are released from said shaker box and transported for further treatment.

Abstract: Polycrystalline silicon rods produced by the Siemens process produce a higher yield of CZ crystals when the process parameters are modified in a second stage of deposition such that an outer layer of larger crystallites having a mean swize>20 ?m is produced. Harvesting of these polycrystalline rods and conventional rods by enclosing them in a plastic bag or sheath prior to removal from the reactor also surprisingly increase the yield of CZ crystals grown from a melt containing the sheathed rods.

Abstract: A method of controlling the crushing of material in an inertia cone crusher includes the step of charging material to be crushed from a feeding hopper to a crushing chamber formed between an inner crushing shell being supported on a crushing head , and an outer crushing shell of the inertia cone crusher . An unbalance bushing, which is provided with an unbalance weight and rotatably connected to the crushing head by a drive shaft, is rotated such that a central axis of the crushing head gyrates about a gyration axis. The number of revolutions of the unbalance bushing is sensed using an rpm sensor. The number of revolutions of the unbalance bushing is controlled by a control system and the material is crushed in the crushing chamber.
