  • Publication number: 20100147984
Abstract: A rotor assembly for a tree cutting attachment for a skid loader. The rotor assembly is made up of a central driven shaft journaled for rotation in the frame of the tree cutting attachment. Circular endplates are disposed proximately on the opposed ends of the central driven shaft. Two diametrically opposed rows of regularly spaced-apart semicircular support plates extend between the circular end plates. The semicircular support plates are held in parallel-spaced relationship by a plurality of equally circumferentially spaced bars extending between the endplates. Swinging hammers are mounted for free pivotal movement in an alternating pattern between the support plates. Each hammer includes a main shaft extending between the support plates, a body member pivotally connected to the main shaft at the pivot axis parallel to and spaced from the central driven shaft and a generally flat tooth member extending radially outward from the body member.

Abstract: A method and two apparatuses for comminuting chips are presented. Chip breakers without a coarse-part ejecting element are often used for comminuting chips. Blocking constituents therefore have to be removed with great effort, for example by hand. If a coarse-part ejecting element is present, there is no differentiation between blocking hard parts and blocking clumps of chips, but instead both types are ejected. It is now envisaged to subdivide blocking constituents in horizontal chip breakers into categories, depending on the negative acceleration of the shaft (3, 17, 18) caused by the blocking, and to assign to each category a defined reversing operation for loosening the blocking constituents and, if appropriate, discharge from the comminuting space (1, 15) by means of a coarse-part ejecting element (12, 32).

  • Patent number: 6659378
Abstract: A mobile field shredder adapted to move continuously through an orchard, pick up pruned branches from the ground, and shred the branches into sawdust and small shredded pieces. The front end of the shredder includes a pair of counter-rotating feeder rollers for picking up the branches. A shredding chamber receives the branches from the feeder rollers. First and second shredder rollers within the shredding chamber, include plural knife blocks on their respective outer peripheries. The shredder rollers are driven in tandem, in the same direction. A chamber screen is provided at the after end of the shredding chamber, in close proximity to the second shredder roller. The shredder rollers reduce the size of material so it is can pass through perforations in the screen. The consistency and size of the shredded material is such that it rapidly decomposes in the field and enriches the soil in the orchard.

  • Patent number: 6648253
Abstract: To operate the air circulation and convey the stock flow of scrap material comminuted in the housing (1) of a hammer mill, the airflow generated by the blower effect of a rotor (2) and the stock flow passing through an upper classifying grate (4) are diverted by a deflector hood (8) and guided vertically downwards into a duct (6) that is separate from the housing (1). The stock flow is combined with the stock flow classified in the area of a lower classifying grate (5). The air flow is then guided in the circulating air and the combined stock flow is conveyed to a device (11) for further processing, sorting and/or conveyance.

  • Patent number: 6644570
Abstract: A comminuting apparatus is provided having a frame, a set of overlapping scissor rolls, a shear outtake manifold, and a pneumatic conveyor. The frame has an enclosure with an entrance for receiving waste material. The set of overlapping scissor rolls is carried for co-rotation within the enclosure. The scissor rolls are operative to comminute the waste material into subdivided pieces. The shear outtake manifold is configured to collect the subdivided pieces of waste material. The pneumatic conveyor includes a source of air flow and a pneumatic duct. The pneumatic duct communicates with an upstream of the shear outtake manifold, and is operative to deliver an airstream from the source of air flow into the shear outtake manifold. The airstream entrains the subdivided pieces and removes the subdivided pieces from the shear outtake manifold.

  • Publication number: 20030047628
Abstract: A shredder, crusher, hammer mill, ring mill or the like is provided with a multi-sided rotor shaft to which spider arms and hammers are mounted. The rotor shaft has at least one pair, and preferably two or more pairs, of opposing sides. The hammers are pivotally mounted between spider arms. The spider arms have bases which include openings. The spider arm base openings have straight sides corresponding to the number of straight sides on the rotor shaft. The spider arm straight sides engage the rotor shaft straight sides. Hence, the spider arms are rotationally fixed in place relative to the rotor shaft without the use of keys and keyways, pins, bolts, or other types of fasteners, allowing for easier assembly and reduced maintenance costs for the crusher.
