  • Publication number: 20040178298
Abstract: A system and method for dispensing roll material is described that substantially prevents toilet paper runaway and is useful in reducing irritation caused by using dry toilet paper. In one embodiment, the dispenser has a structure that has a thin, but strong curved, rigid arm with a tooth that is biased to engage the toilet paper roll in such a manner that it will only permit the roll to turn only in one direction. If the roll is attempted to be turned in the opposite direction, the tooth, which is disposed toward the roll, will engage the roll and prevent rotation in the second direction without substantially damaging the toilet paper on the roll. In a second embodiment, the toilet paper dispenser will dispense a predetermined amount of toilet paper into a receiver that has a sufficient size that it will fold over onto itself a predetermined number of times.

  • Patent number: 6547689
Abstract: The angular motion translator is a device with direct mechanical coupling which allows a user to reliably and durably change the angular relationship between two elements in a rotating frame (i.e. two output shafts) by changing the angular relationship between two elements in a static reference frame, whereby the change in the angular relationship of the elements in the rotating frame is proportional to the change in the angular relationship of the elements in the static reference frame. Essentially, the angular motion translator is comprised of two linked identical planetary gear sets facing one another as mirror images. Matching elements in the two planetary gear sets are held static, although one of the static elements may be rotated with respect to the other, matching elements are rigidly attached together so that they rotate as a single unit, and the remaining matching elements are attached to either the input shaft and the inner output shaft or the outer output shaft respectively.

Abstract: A device for holding and dispensing moistened tissue from a roll includes a housing having a cylindrical wall, a fixed end wall and an opposite removable end wall to allow placement of the tissue roll on an integral tubular dowel in the housing. A hinged door moves between a normally closed, sealed position and an open position to facilitate removal of individual sheets of the moistened tissue through an access opening. An air tight seal protectively encapsulates the roll within the housing when the door is closed in order to prevent drying of the moistened tissue. Pegs extending outwardly from the opposite end walls fit within congruently configured recesses of a holder for securing the housing to the holder. The pegs and recesses are keyed to prevent rotation of the housing when pulling sheets of tissue from the roll. An ejection control urges one of the pegs inwardly against a spring to release the housing from the holder to facilitate refilling of tissue when needed.
