Rod Type Patents (Class 248/251)
  • Patent number: 7438268
Abstract: A display bar assembly for mounting on spaced apart slotted uprights on a merchandising gondola or the like. A tubular display bar of polygonal cross section is fitted with a pair of mounting brackets, which are slideable along the bar to enable spacing of the mounting brackets to agree with the spacing between the slotted uprights, which can be somewhat variable. The mounting brackets are formed with openings which closely and non-rotatably receive the display bar and are provided with hooks which engage slots in the uprights. Flanged end plugs are received tightly in each end of the display bar to prevent removal of the slideable brackets, such that the display bar and brackets form a permanent assembly. The mounting brackets may have multiple slot-engaging hooks for installation on uprights of different thicknesses in different rotary positions of the assembly.

The support member is positioned below and intermediate the respective opposed ends of the drapery rod. The support member includes a saddle, a support arm, and a retainer. The saddle is shaped to support a lower external portion of said drapery rod. The saddle extends laterally of the drapery rod for less than about the cross-sectional width of the rod to permit a drapery hanger to pass unimpeded over the saddle. The saddle element preferably has longitudinally opposed edges disposed along the drapery rod. The longitudinally opposed edges are generally convexly arcuate relative to a longitudinal axis of the drapery rod. The support and retention functions are separated. The saddle supports the rod and the retainer releasably retains the drapery rod in engagement with the saddle. A support arm supports from below the saddle.

Abstract: The bracket includes an inner body having a hook on one end and arranged to slide within an outer body having a hook on one end to provide a variable bracket length. A pair of springs located between overlapping portions of the bodies biases the bracket towards its longer uncompressed length. After the bracket is mounted to a support surface, a wall of the headrail is hooked onto the hook of the inner body. The headrail is then advanced to compress the springs and shorten the bracket length so that an opposite wall of the headrail can catch on the hook of the outer body. Removing the compression force on the springs biases the bracket toward its longer length to capture the second wall of the headrail with the hook of the outer body. By this arrangement, an easily applied pushing force installs and attaches the mounting bracket to the headrail.
