Automobile Patents (Class 248/352)
  • Patent number: 4064668
Abstract: A metal supporting pier for modular houses and mobil homes rests on a solid foundation having an upwardly projecting threaded bolt. The pier has a downwardly depending threaded rod that engages the bolt, preferably by use of a turnbuckle. This tie-down structure so tightly holds the piers to the foundation that there is no lateral shifting under seismic jolt, nor is there any vertical movement. The pier, accordingly, can be used to meet the most stringent building code requirements for housing supports.

  • Patent number: 4042202
Abstract: A jack stand with a safety locking device whereby the pin for locking the extensible member with respect to the base or housing is keyed so as to prevent withdrawal of the pin until rotated into an aligned position. The through hole in the base for receiving the locking pin is slotted so as to receive a pin having projections for fitting through the slots, with the projections on the pin preventing withdrawal when the pin is not in the aligned position.

  • Patent number: 4021012
Abstract: A telescoping jack stand made of stamped metal parts with a pair of angularly extending legs which are pivotally mounted with respect to each other. The legs define an aperture between the legs with inwardly extending integral teeth. A central column member includes matching teeth and corresponding in shape and dimension with the aperture between the two legs. The central column includes recesses corresponding to the integral teeth of the legs. The legs are pivoted with respect to each other so that upon engagement of the teeth with the recesses in the column, additional load tends to pivot the teeth into greater engagement with the column and provide improved stability.

  • Patent number: 4014517
Abstract: A stand for support of a structure, as a mobile home, above the ground. The stand includes a generally flat base and a plurality of legs having lower ends pivotally assembled to the base. The legs extend in upwardly converging relationship away from the base and are pivotally connected at the upper ends to a support platform. The lower ends of the legs are movable on the base in such a fashion to raise and lower the support platform. Means are provided to secure the position of the lower ends of the legs to the base whereby the support platform may be positioned in firm, supportive relationship to the structure.

  • Patent number: 3993276
Abstract: A spring holder tool is used to maintain a helical shaped frame support of an automobile in a compressed state. A circular shaped member having a cup shaped depression on the top lateral face is affixed to the end of a horizontal trihedron shaped extension arm wherein the horizontal extension arm is supported by a movable vertical support assembly. The circular shaped member is inserted between two convolutions of an expanded support spring. When the expansion force is released from the support spring, the portion of the support spring above the spring holder tube is maintained in a compressed state at a given vertical height.

  • Patent number: 3970278
Abstract: A stationary jack stand for supporting such things as the draw bar end of a trailer has a base, four struts and a cap, capable of ready assembly and disassembly. On the base are four recesses into which are inserted the lower ends of the respective struts. The cap has four pockets much closer together than those of the base into which upper ends of the respective struts are slid. When a weight is applied to the top of the cap all parts remain interlocked together. To disassemble, the top is lifted free from the struts and they in turn can be lifted free of the recesses in the base.
