Parting Layer Patents (Class 249/115)
  • Patent number: 4752059
Abstract: A transfer film comprising a base film and a releasant layer, an ink layer and an adhesive layer laminated on the base film in this order is inserted into a cavity of an injection mold, and injection molding material is injected into the cavity. After the molded article is removed from the mold, the base film is peeled off and the ink layer is transferred to the surface of the molded article. The injection mold has a coring pin for forming an opening in the molded article and the contact surface of the coring pin to be brought into contact with the adhesive layer of the transfer film has poor adhesion to the adhesive layer so that the bond strength between the contact surface of the coring pin and the adhesive layer is lower than those between the ink layer and the releasant layer and between the releasant layer and the base film.

  • Patent number: 4681724
Abstract: A shrinkable foam mandrel that can be easily removed and composite resin transfer molding process that uses the foam mandrel. The foam is dimensionally stable at a first temperature that typically corresponds to the cure temperature of the composite resin. The foam is capable of irreversibly shrinking to less than about 0.5 said foam's original size at a second tempertaure that is above said first tempertaure. The foam is encapsulated by a non-stick elastomer skin and covered with fibers. The fiber covered elastomer encapsulated foam is disposed in a female mold cavity and resin is injected into the female mold cavity. The resin and fibers are cured and the resulting composite component is removed from the female mold. The temperature is raised to the second temperature and the elastomer encapsulated foam male mandrel irreversibly shrink to less than about 0.5 its original size. Finally the shrunken male mandrel is removed from said composite component.

  • Patent number: 4546951
Abstract: The invention relates to a mould for encapsulating parts of elements into a plastic material to manufacture electric components. The mould comprises a number of steel blocks or rods with accurately finished surfaces for clamping them completely tight together in a holder, whereby recesses in said blocks or rods are forming the mould cavity or mould cavities and the sprues. A layer of high hardness, such as a nitride layer, is deposited by means of vapor deposition in vacuum at a high temperature onto at least those surfaces of said blocks or rods determining the mould cavity or mould cavities and the sprues. Furthermore the blocks or rods are concerning their dimensions and/or flexibility and/or structure and/or finishing of the surfaces turned away from the mould cavity embodied such that deformations in the position in which said blocks or rods are clamped into said holder, caused by the depositioning of said layer, are eliminated.

  • Patent number: 4049759
Abstract: A method and arrangement for lining articles are disclosed which are particularly well-suited for use in lining melting ovens. The arrangement includes a mold member which is composed of several relatively movable sections so as to permit the dimensions thereof to be changed. For the lining of an oven chamber, the mold member has an external surface the configuration of which corresponds to the inner wall of the oven chamber. This surface is coated with a refractory-containing composition, which is releasably secured over the surface. In coating the mold member the composition is made up in a flowable or plastic state, applied over the external surface of the mold member in this state, and then hardened, for instance, by heating. The composition is of such a nature that the temperatures required for hardening the same are sufficiently low to avoid undesirable effects on the mold member.
