  • Patent number: 7355196
Abstract: A stimulable phosphor sheet, on which a radiation image of an object has been stored, is scanned with stimulating rays, which cause the stimulable phosphor sheet to emit light in proportion to the amount of energy stored on the stimulable phosphor sheet during exposure of the stimulable phosphor sheet to radiation. The light, which is emitted by the stimulable phosphor sheet when the stimulable phosphor sheet is scanned with the stimulating rays, is detected, and an image signal representing the radiation image of the object is acquired. The scanning of the stimulable phosphor sheet with the stimulating rays is performed from an object image-carrying edge area, in which a radiation image pattern representing the object has been stored, the object image-carrying edge area being one of edge areas of the stimulable phosphor sheet.

  • Patent number: 7262426
Abstract: Quality degradation of a radiograph obtained from a stimulable phosphor sheet used repeatedly for radiography can be suppressed by an image data correction apparatus. Light emission characteristic storage means stores light emission change characteristic data and section storage means stores a position and a range of each of areas in the sheet obtained by dividing the sheet. Cumulative radiation dose acquisition means obtains an accumulated radiation dose for each of the areas, and light emission change rate acquisition means finds a light emission change rate representing a change in an amount of emitted light in accordance with the accumulated radiation dose for each of the areas, by using the light emission change characteristic data. Correction means corrects a value of image data obtained by reading each of the areas, for the change in the amount of the light with reference to the light emission change rate.

Abstract: An image recording medium for recording image information by storing electric charges generated in response to exposure to an electromagnetic wave carrying the image information. The image recording medium includes: an electrode transparent to the electromagnetic wave; a recording-side photoconductive layer which contains a-Se as a main component, and generates electric charges when exposed to the electromagnetic wave; and a suppression layer which is arranged between the electrode and the recording-side photoconductive layer, and suppresses interfacial crystallization in the recording-side photoconductive layer. The suppression layer is made of an organic material which behaves as an insulator against electric charges having the opposite polarity to electric charges which move from the recording-side photoconductive layer to the electrode at the time of recording, and as a conductor of charges having the same polarity as the electric charges which move to the electrode.

  • Patent number: 6731783
Abstract: An X-ray beam transmitted through an object is transmitted through a grid, which has been moved to the X-ray irradiation position, and reaches a panel sensor after scattered X-rays are removed by the grid. Image processing is done on the basis of a reduced image input from the panel sensor. As the reduced image, an image reduced to ⅛ the image output from the panel sensor in both the vertical and horizontal directions is used, and the image is binarized by a predetermined threshold value. Noise of the binary image is removed by an opening filter, and lines of the noise-removed image are scanned in the x- and y-directions to form a list of scan start and end points. The average values of these points are calculated to determine an irradiated region. By extracting an image of the irradiated region from the panel sensor, fluoroscopic image observation and still image photographing are efficiently done using a panel sensor with a large photographing frame.

Abstract: Stimulating rays are linearly irradiated onto an area of a stimulable phosphor sheet, and light emitted by the sheet is detected with a CCD line sensor comprising photoelectric converting sections arrayed along the linear area of the sheet exposed to the linear stimulating rays. Accumulated electric charges obtained from each set of n number of the photoelectric converting sections adjacent to one another are read together. The accumulated electric charges, which have thus been read together from the set of the photoelectric converting sections, are taken as an image signal component corresponding to one pixel. The value of n is set in accordance with image recording information and/or diagnostic information.

Abstract: A system for imaging of bodily tissue in which an x-ray source, an optical storage element, a light source and a detector array are used to accurately image selected tissue. An x-ray source generates x-rays which pass through a region of a subject's body, forming an x-ray image which reaches the storage element. The storage element reradiates a spatial intensity pattern corresponding to the image, the pattern being detected by a sensor. The image is digitized by the sensor and processed by a controller before being stored as an electronic image. Each image is directed onto a CCD or amorphous silicon detector to generate individual electronic representations of separate images.

  • Patent number: 6627912
Abstract: In a mass spectrometry system, a method of operating a processing section, for example a collision cell, is provided. The method is based on the realization that some interfering ions after collision will have significantly lower kinetic energy than desired analyte ions. These interfering ions can be ions originating from the source, or product ions formed by reaction with gas particles, or ions produced by other processes within the cell. Significantly, these interfering ions can have lower kinetic energies, as compared to desired analyte ions, but this energy differential disappears, or is much reduced, at the exit of the collision cell, rendering post-cell energy discrimination less effective. The invention provides a field within the cell to discriminate against the interfering ions based on their lower kinetic energy.
