Abstract: A fluid reservoir assembly having a pan defining a drain opening and a plug disposed therein is disclosed. The pan includes a pair of ramps disposed on an inner surface thereof adjacent the drain opening. The plug includes a pair of wings in engagement with the ramps. The ramps increase in height relative to the inner surface of the pan along a first direction of rotation about the central axis. The plug is drawn into sealing engagement with an outer surface of the pan by rotating the plug in the first direction of rotation about the central axis thereby moving the wings up the ramps. The pan includes at least one stop to prevent over-rotation of the plug. The ramps define a recess to secure the wings in a closed position.

  • Patent number: 8042788
Abstract: A thin disk portion, which extends radially, and a rib provided in an outer circumference part of the disk portion are formed in a valve body. A ring-like seal projection to be pressure-contacted with the disk portion to seal a valve is formed in a case. Because the disk portion is thin, deformation occurs along an end surface of a seal projection when the valve is sealed. Even when the seal projection is deformed due to fuel swelling or the like, sealing is enabled along the entire circumference thereof. High sealability is achieved even when the resin components are pressure-contacted with each other.

  • Patent number: 8020833
Abstract: A two-step, self-regulating valve (16) controls gas flow from a gas cylinder (12) in a high pressure system. The valve (16) includes a valve body (24), a piston (26), a plug (28), a valve actuator (34), and a piston actuator (32). The piston (26) is movable within the valve body (24) along an axis between a first and a second position. The plug (28) is movable within the valve body (24) along the axis between a valve closed position, a partially open position, and a fully open position. The valve actuator (34) allows the plug (28) to move from the valve closed position to the partially open position. The piston actuator (32) causes the piston (26) to move from the first position to the second position when a gas pressure in the gas cylinder (12) is less than a setpoint. When the piston (26) moves to the second position, the piston (26) allows the plug (28) to move from the partially open position to the fully open position.

Abstract: The present invention generally comprises a floating slit valve for interfacing with a chamber. A floating slit valve moves or “floats” relative to another object such as a chamber. The slit valve may be coupled between two chambers. When a chamber coupled with the slit valve is heated, the slit valve may also be heated by conduction. As the slit valve is heated, it may thermally expand. When a vacuum is drawn in a chamber, the slit valve may deform due to vacuum deflection. By disposing a low friction material spacer between the chamber and the slit valve, the slit valve may not rub against the chamber during thermal expansion/contraction and/or vacuum deflection and thus, may not generate undesirable particle contaminants. Additionally, slots drilled through the chamber for coupling the slit valve to the chamber may be sized to accommodate thermal expansion/contraction and vacuum deflection of the slit valve.

Abstract: A stop valve for a gas tank is provided which achieves favorable sealing performance by inhibiting rotation of a sealing member attached to a valve element. A passage is formed inside a valve body, and a valve seat is provided in the passage. The valve element which is engaged and disengaged from the valve seat is slidably inserted to a sliding hole bored in the valve body. The annular sealing member is arranged in sliding contact with the outer peripheral surface of the valve element and the inner peripheral surface of the sliding hole. A screw hole connecting to the sliding hole and coaxial thereto is provided in the valve body. A rotating operation member having a male screw is rotatably screwed into the screw hole from the outside of the valve body. One end of the rotating operation member is made to abut the valve body.

  • Patent number: 7121526
Abstract: A drain plug for a threaded opening in a fluid container that is particularly suited for transom drains in recreational boats. The plug has an externally threaded cylindrical body with a central channel and transverse openings to permit fluid to flow from the central channel out of the body of the plug. One end of the plug is flared and has a plurality of longitudinal slots that will allow the radial compression of the end when the plug is screwed into a threaded opening. In one embodiment, the radial compression of the end of the flared plug is limited by a ring that fits in an annular groove in the interior of the body in the central channel. In another embodiment, the external threads are tapered near the handle to provide a tight seal when the drain is fully closed. Another embodiment provides an o-ring to seal the drain plug when the drain is closed.

Abstract: Provided is a self-priming drain valve suitable for draining liquid from a tank wherein sediment and other solid matter has accumulated. The valve includes a reverse thread, stem-down to close operation, which allows the valve stem, and attached plug, to disturb the accumulated solid matter that is at rest at the valve's inlet. This disturbing action provides the inertia necessary to disturb the solid matter and begin the free flow of the tank's contents.
