Removable Seat Engaging Element Patents (Class 251/357)
  • Patent number: 8052119
Abstract: A valve device includes: a valve housing defining a cylindrical space connected to a high-pressure source, and having a first communication hole open at a valve seat located at a bottom portion of the valve housing and providing fluid communication between the cylindrical space and a low-pressure source; a seal member arranged in the cylindrical space and providing or shutting off fluid communication between the high-pressure and low-pressure sources so that the seal member moves away from or contacts the valve seat; and a stem having an accommodating recess at one end of the stem and moved axially. The seal member is fitted and held in the accommodating recess. The seal member has a second communication hole that provides fluid communication between a bottom face of the accommodating recess and the low-pressure source when the seal member is in contact with the valve seat.

Abstract: A puck retaining recess in a plunger of a solenoid valve is formed with a puck retaining lip that is fixed or unified with the plunger. The puck is then radially compressed to fit through a central opening of the retainer lip, and once the puck is pushed past the retainer lip, it is allowed to radially expand within the recess where the puck is retained between a bottom of the recess and the retainer lip. This eliminates many problems that previously occurred with separable retainer lips pressed into position to hold a puck after its insertion into a plunger recess.

Abstract: A seal arrangement for a fluid device includes a seal member that is disposed in a first groove formed in a body and one or more backup members disposed in a second groove formed in the body, with a shoulder between the first and second grooves against which the seal member is supported. The fluid device may be any device that contains a fluid, such as, for example, a valve, a regulator or a fluid connector. The body may be, for example, a stem-like member or other device that is disposed in a bore and for which a fluid-tight seal is needed to prevent fluid flow along the annulus between the stem and the bore wall. The shoulder may be used, for example, to provide a rigid support for the seal member under pressure, in one embodiment supporting about half of the bulk material of the seal member under pressure.

A ring-like seal projection to be pressure-contacted with the disk portion to seal a valve is formed in a case. Because the disk portion is thin, deformation occurs along an end surface of a seal projection when the valve is sealed. Even when the seal projection is deformed due to fuel swelling or the like, sealing is enabled along the entire circumference thereof. Abstract: A valve body of an on-off valve that minimizes the deviation of opening and closing characteristics of a valve member made of an elastic polymer material and provided in a valve body of the on-off valve due to expansion caused by the fluid handled thereby and that maintains the specified opening and closing operation. A base portion of the valve member made with an elastic polymer material is inserted in an attachment hole of a valve element of a valve body with space constituted by a small-diameter-hole portion left at the hole bottom. A constricted-diameter portion formed in a tip opening of the attachment hole is embedded in the valve member to secure the base portion of the valve member. Axial elongation due to swelling of the valve member is distributed as forward elongation and rearward elongation sandwiching the site of securing by the constricted-diameter portion, which minimizes the axial elongation of a tip portion with a valve face and curtails deviation from the settings for on-off timing.

Abstract: In a valve member adapted to co-operate with an annular seat and comprising a plate with an annular channel for receiving a gasket which is crimped by folding in an outer wall of the channel, any risk of the gasket being ruptured is minimized by the outer surface of the gasket presenting, in the absence of any stress being exerted thereon, a first region extending frustoconically towards the central axis of the valve member, which first region is extended by a second region extending frustoconically away from the central axis, and by the outer wall of the channel being folded progressively towards the first region so as to fit snugly against the shape thereof without penetrating into the material of the gasket, without exerting any stress thereon, and without compressing it. The valve member is suitable for use in particular in thermostat valves.

Abstract: A valve fastening structure of a reciprocating compressor is provided. The valve fastening structure of the reciprocating compressor includes a piston, which is combined with a moving magnet of a driving motor and is in a linear reciprocating motion inside a cylinder and in which a refrigerant channel is formed in the direction of the reciprocating motion, a suction valve arranged in the leading end of the piston, the suction valve for opening and shutting the refrigerant channel of the piston, and magnets inserted into and fixed to the leading end of the piston, the magnets for fixing the suction valve by magnetic force. It is possible to minimize dead volume in the cylinder and to easily control the stroke of the piston by establishing the suction valve as the cardinal point during the controlling of the stroke of the piston. Accordingly, the efficiency of the compressor is improved.

  • Patent number: 6565065
Abstract: An adaptor is for a rising disc valve which has a handle for rotating a stem in a housing bore having a shoulder and which displaces a disc valve member which seals against a frusto-conical housing seat spaced from the shoulder. A stack of Belleville -steel springs is between the disc member and the ring seal. An interface ring is between the springs and the ring seal. As the disc member is seated in its valve seat, a ring at the attachment member abuts the shoulder. The attachment member can no longer axially displace and compressively loads the springs as the disc member is further axially displaced to the valve closed state. The compressive load on the ring seal expands the seal radially outwardly against the housing bore and radially inwardly against the piston shank.

Abstract: A valve comprises a valve body including a valve cavity with an inlet and an outlet. The valve body has a valve seat in the valve cavity. The valve seat has a flow passage disposed between the inlet and the outlet. A valve stem is movable in the valve cavity between an open position and a closed position. The valve stem includes a substantially rigid shaft and a resilient shell. The resilient shell is generally tubular, and is injection molded around a portion of the shaft. The resilient shell includes a sealing surface which is spaced from the valve seat with the valve stem in the open position and which is pressed against the valve seat to block the flow passage between the inlet and the outlet with the valve stem in the closed position. The resilient shell includes a spring cavity. A resilient spring hat has a spring seat. The resilient spring hat is disposed in the valve cavity with a press fit against an inner surface of the valve cavity to seal the valve cavity against leakage.

Abstract: A valve plug design is disclosed that uses a plug head band and a retaining ring to restrain a valve plug head to a valve plug stem. This invention is specifically directed to providing valve plugs where the plug head material is different and distinct from the plug stem material and where each material is selected to optimize its performance. Moreover, this invention is provided with a means for fixing and removing the plug head to and from the plug stem that can easily be worked in the field without special purpose manufacturing equipment, thereby making the maintenance, repair and replacement of plug head easier for users. This valve plug design subjects the plug head to reduced stresses thereby enhances the operating life of the valve and valve plug. This valve plug design provides a shock absorbing, compliance barrier around and/or under the plug head.

Abstract: A bimorph piezoelectric flapper element is mounted at one end in a valve casing so that it extends into a valve chamber as a cantilever. The flapper element tapers to the unsupported end on which a fluorosilicone blocking plate is mounted. An outlet port is formed by a tubular boss which projects into the valve chamber and which tapers to a fine annular rim formed around a mouth of a bore at the tip of the boss. The blocking plate is normally held by the flapper element seated on the tip of the tubular boss to close the outlet port, the tip making an indentation in the fluorosilicone whereby to form a `bite` seal. The blocking plate is unseated by the application of a low voltage to the bimorph piezoelectric element. The valve is suitable for hydraulic fluids and may be operated by optical power.
