    Abstract: An apparatus is provided which includes a valve transmission designed to connect a valve actuator to a rotational valve. The valve transmission includes a pinion, a pair of stepped racks, and a lower gear, all within a housing. The pinion is designed to be driven by a rotating shaft of an actuator. The pinion engages the teeth of the racks on the upper steps. The lower steps of the rack are displaced laterally from the upper steps to engage a lower gear that is either of lesser or greater diameter than the pinion depending on whether a positive or negative mechanical advantage is desired. The lower steps drive the lower gear which is connected to the drive shaft of a rotational valve. The transmission is placed within a housing which removeably mounts to the valve body.

The snubber has a housing with an open interior space communicating through a communication path with a first one of the actuator chambers. A first piston is reciprocably movable within the snubber housing, the first piston being operably connected to the actuator stem to move therewith. The first piston divides the snubber housing space into two chambers, one on each side of the first piston. A passage is provided which leads from one of the snubber chambers to the other. A floating piston positioned in the communication path between the first piston and the first actuator chamber.

    Abstract: A drain valve is provided for connection to a water supply line for draining water in a vacuum flush aircraft sanitation system. The valve comprises a housing having a fluid inlet and a fluid outlet. The housing also includes a pressure chamber with a diaphragm that is normally biased to a first position by a spring when the chamber is depressurized. This allows water to flow from the fluid inlet to the drain outlet and ultimately to a drain mast of the aircraft. When the chamber is pressurized, however, the diaphragm moves to a second position which operates a linkage mechanism that moves a plug against a seat in the drain outlet to close the drain outlet so that rinse water does not drain from the valve's fluid inlet. A sanitation system also is disclosed, in which grey water from the aircraft lavatory sink is collected and transferred under pressure through a rinse line to flush a toilet bowl when the drain valve is closed.

The free-wheel thus distributes the stressing over two successive impacts, whereby the stress in the lever (12) of the flap disk (14) is reduced by approximately one half. A hydraulic brake in the servo system (1) ensures that the closing speed of the flap disk is kept constant approximately in the last third of the closing process.

The other valve 25, 26, 27, constructed as a non-return valve, is actuated via a tappet 34 which takes the form of a valve and via which the chamber 30 of the actuating piston 32 can be relieved of pressure.

The combination of the mating of the leading edge of the baffle plate and the wedge and the downward and forward force exerted by the baffle arms create an airtight seal between the baffle plate and the frame when the baffle plate is in the closed position.

A sub base is provided which serves as an adaptor and is fixedly mounted to the valve bonnet of a standard quarter turn valve. The sub base has threaded fasteners which fit through open or raised portions of a convoluted ring fixed to the actuator housing. A cover plate above the ring has holes to receive the studs and nuts or other suitable means are used to fasten the cover plate, convoluted ring, and sub base. The raised portions of the convoluted ring have pusher screws which push against the threaded fasteners of the base flange. Rotation of the convoluted ring and the actuator relative to the sub base can occur by selectively rotating the pusher screws thereby resulting in fine adjustment of the fully open and fully closed positions of the valve.
