  • Patent number: 6071436
Abstract: Compositions and methods relating to cementitious compositions are provided. The addition of an amidoamine that is the reaction product of polyalkylenepolyamines and short-chain alkanedioic acids or reactive derivatives thereof to cementitious compositions has been found useful in inhibiting the corrosion of ferrous metal articles in contact with said composition. The amidoamine is advantageously employed in combination with a hydrophobe compound that enhances corrosion inhibition. The invention also provides aqueous emulsions which contain the amidoamine, one or more hydrophobes, and an emulsifier for the hydrophobe.

  • Patent number: 5989322
Abstract: The present invention provides a method and compositions useful for inhibiting corrosion of a corrodible metal resulting from contact of water and air with the metal. In this method, a stannous salt and a hydrocarbyl substituted succinimide of a polyethylene polyamine, separately or in combination, are added to the water in a minor amount and reduce corrosion of the metal to a substantially low rate.

  • Patent number: 5976414
Abstract: The prevention of corrosion on the surfaces of airwasher systems and particularly systems containing low levels of hardness is controlled utilizing a corrosion inhibiting amount of a composition including an alkali metal silicate, a hydroxycarboxylic acid or its water soluble salts, a polyacrylate or its water soluble salts, and a water soluble polymer which acts as a dispersant. Superior corrosion inhibition is achieved using the compositions of this invention as corrosion inhibitors, particularly in industrial airwasher systems employing mild steel metallurgy.

  • Patent number: 5904990
Abstract: Until recently, conducting polymers have been used as protective coatings. lthough these types of polymers appear to be effective in most cases, problems have resulted when attempting to bind these polymers to an aluminum surface. The polymers of this invention adhere extremely well to aluminum and aluminum alloys and thus, provide a very effective form of corrosion protection.
