Patent number: 4419314Abstract: A method of coating a core sample in which a distillate such as petroleum jelly is applied to the exterior surface of the sample. A cylindrical mold is partially filled with a plastic mixture of hardenable epoxy resin and hardener therefor, and one end of the core sample is slowly inserted into the mold under a pressure which preferably is not more than about 50 pounds per square inch. In some cases the inserted end of the sample is pre-coated with the plastic mixture. As the insertion of the sample is continued, the mixture flows up the side of the sample and covers the opposite end. The coating is cured by maintaining it in the mold at room temperature for a period of time sufficient to enable the resin to set up and then by holding it at an elevated temperature for at least about eight hours. Upon the removal of the coated sample from the mold, the ends are cut off to expose the sample material.Type: GrantFiled: May 26, 1981Date of Patent: December 6, 1983Assignee: Core Laboratories, Inc.Inventor: Darrell Bush

Patent number: 4396503Abstract: In accordance with the inventive method, a one-sided coated element, in particular a screen element, is provided with a bonding agent after being cleaned. Subsequently, form elements are inserted into the openings of the elements from the rear side thereof which completely fill the openings and extend therethrough. Thereafter, the coating is applied in a lesser thickness than the height of the protruding form elements. This assures that, with a comparably thick coating, openings of a predetermined geometry are created. For this purpose, a device is preferably used having bars which consist of adjacent, successive tapered , pyramid- or horizontal prism-like form elements. The form elements consist of an elastic material which taper into a sharp pointed edge. Thereby, the form elements may be easily installed and removed and the coating runs off the form elements during application, so that the openings are not covered up by the coating material.Type: GrantFiled: August 10, 1981Date of Patent: August 2, 1983Assignee: Hein Lehmann AGInventor: Gerhard Schmidt

Patent number: 4137618Abstract: Spherical friction or sliding bearings are produced by first making a laminate from a layer of a thermosetting resin and a layer of material having a low friction coefficient. The thermosetting resin is used to impregnate a first web or fabric. The low friction coefficient material may be provided in the form of a further webbing or fabric, for instance, made of polytetrafluoroethylene. The thermosetting material may, for example, be a phenolic resin which is at this point of manufacture in its A-state and hence tacky. In order to permit the immediate further processing of the laminate with the thermosetting resin still in its tacky A-state, a dry adhesive film which neutralizes the tackiness, is applied to the laminate in sandwich formation which is then cut into pieces or strips of suitable size. The sandwich strips are then placed into a mold and pre-shaped and precision cut at room temperatures while the resin is still in its A-state.Type: GrantFiled: May 2, 1977Date of Patent: February 6, 1979Assignee: Erma-Werke Waffen- und Maschinenfabrik GmbHInventor: Dieter Krauss

Patent number: 4112576Abstract: A solenoid and electric terminal heads are embedded in plastic by injection molding. Die faces accurately position and orient contact surfaces on the heads relative to the solenoid and contacts on the solenoid plunger, eliminating subsequent machining. The solenoid windings and lead wires are encapsulated by plastic injected in the molding process through openings in the coil casing. Portions of the lead wires outside of the casing and contact posts connected thereto are also embedded in the plastic. Injection molded walls guide axial movement of a rectangular contact member with the plunger and prevent its rotation out of alignment with the terminal heads. A fibrous washer compresses axially under the die force to compensate for cumulative axial tolerances of the solenoid and terminal heads for accurately positioning the bottom of the plunger opening relative to the contact surfaces on the terminal heads.Type: GrantFiled: November 17, 1975Date of Patent: September 12, 1978Inventor: Harry Robert Gross

Patent number: 4112041Abstract: According to the invention, electrically conductive paths are formed between the coil armor and the core laminations of dynamoelectric machines for inhibiting corona. This is achieved by injecting an uncured, semi-conducting, elastomeric material between the coil sides and the walls of the core slots by way of the air ducts in the core, and thereafter curing the material. The uncured material has a viscosity which enables it to be forced under pressure between the coil sides and slot walls by means of a pneumatically actuated gun assembly whose construction and operation are described in detail. The cured material has a resistance high enough not to form eddy current paths between laminations and yet low enough to conduct charge from the coil armor to the core. It is also capable of retaining its strength, elasticity, conductivity, etc., and remaining in place between the coils and core under vibrations, coolant flow, electric stresses, repeated temperature changes, etc.Type: GrantFiled: April 28, 1977Date of Patent: September 5, 1978Assignee: Canadian General Electric CompanyInventors: Palmer Lonseth, Hubert Gerald Panter, Donald G.
