A plurality of upper plates, each of them provided with protuberances, is lowered, one by one, on the foam layer to impress upper recesses before the foam layer enters the vulcanizer. The plates, placed on the foam layer, have their ends shaped in such a way to avoid completely any penetration of steam condensation drops. Upper plates release their weight to fixed supports of the planes to which they are bound until they leave the vulcanizer. The coming back of the plates from the extraction station towards the new cycle of moulding is independent of the operating system of the planes.

Abstract: A process and apparatus for creating an acoustically absorbent porous panel comprises the steps of dispensing cement and fibers with a dry mixer to create a dry mix and aqueous mixing water, surfactant and air with an aqueous mixer to create a foam. The process and apparatus provides for combining and mixing the foam and dry mix in a combining mixer to form a foamed cementitious material comprising on a wet basis about 53% to about 68% by weight cement, about 17% to about 48% by weight water, about 0.05% to about 5% by weight fibers, and about 0.01% to about 10% by weight surfactant. The foamed cementitious material is then dried or cured in a drying chamber. The dried foamed cementitious material may then textured with an embossing roller. The cementitious material provides good acoustical performance with enhanced durability and moisture resistance.

Abstract: A method for dehydrating a porous cross-linked polymer conveniently to a low final water content is provided. A porous cross-linked polymer sheet is produced by a method which comprises causing a porous cross-linked polymer obtained by forming and polymerizing a water-in-oil type higher internal phase emulsion to be dehydrated by the use of non-woven fabric rolls furnished with an aspiration mechanism. Properly in this case, the porous cross-linked polymer is subjected to preliminary squeezing. In accordance with the present invention, a porous cross-linked polymer abounding in a water absorbing property to be dehydrated to a low final water content with a small number of rolls.

Abstract: The present invention provides a dispersant and foaming agent combination that is useful in the production of gypsum wallboard and other aqueous cementitious products, a method of forming a gypsum wallboard and a gypsum wallboard. The dispersant in the combination according to the invention is a naphthalene sulfonate-aldehyde condensate alkali salt polymer having a weight average molecular weight of from about 17,000 to about 47,000. The alkali is preferably an alkali metal and/or an alkaline earth metal. The aldehyde is preferably formaldehyde. The foaming agent used in the combination according to the invention is a soap, preferably an alkali salt of an alkyl ether sulfate and/or an alkyl sulfate. The combination of a high molecular weight dispersant and a foaming agent produces a gypsum wallboard core effect that more efficiently entrains air (i.e., creates void space), thereby lowering overall board weight without detrimentally affecting strength.

Abstract: A breathable multilayer film having a breathable core layer and at least one skin layer is disclosed. The core layer prepared by from a mixture containing a thermoplastic polymer and a particulate filler and the skin layer or layers are prepared from a mixture of at least two incompatible polymers and a polymer which compatiblizes the incompatible polymers. The addition of the compatiblizer in the skin layer improves the film forming consistency. In addition, the core layer contains voids around the particulate filler and the skin layer or layer has cracks or voids, which provides breathability to the multilayer film. Stretching of the film after the layers are coextruded together forms the voids and/or cracks.
