  • Patent number: 5840226
Abstract: A woody group material and cement are combined to form a construction material. The material has an aggregate of finely split pieces formed by splitting wood, bamboo or the like in a fiber direction. The split pieces are formed in one or more layers and are surrounded by, and buried in, a mortar. A construction material can be provided which is fire resistant and has a strength comparable to a lumbered product such as wood material obtained by cutting raw wood. The finely split pieces of wood, bamboo or the like are very strong and tough because they closely adhere to the mortar. Moreover, it is possible to use a fiber structure of raw material. Since the finely split pieces can use a small diameter wood, lumbering byproducts, and other waste material, it is possible to achieve effective use of forest resources and low manufacturing costs.

Abstract: A process is for producing machine components from highly corrosion and water-resistant cast mineral, especially for the production of monolithically cast pump housings or parts in which the binder is first mixed with the filler in a positive mixer and the finished mixture is poured into a mould and hardened. In order to obtain a dense and non-porous casting which needs no further machining, a heat-curing synthetic resin-curing agent system is used as the binder. The binder and filler are mixed in a heatable, evacuated positive mixer at a temperature of over 20.degree. C. and a pressure of under 80 mbar. The casting take place in a preheated mould as a rising casting. The cast mineral in the mould is first cured at a temperature of over 60.degree. C. and the cured casting is removed from the mould, cleaned, measured and if necessary post machined. Finally the casting is cured in an annealing furnace at over 120.degree. C.

Abstract: An automotive interior trim part (10) is made by molding a substrate retainer layer (16), forming a skin layer (12) and forming an intermediate layer (14). The intermediate layer (14) is formed from a plurality of clusters of entangled high melt and low melt kinked fibers of polyethylene terephthalate (PET). The PET layer is blown into a partially closed mold that has the skin and retainer positioned in each mold die. The mold undergoes induced vibrations to promote tightening of the packed clusters. The mold is then fully closed to compress the PET fibers into full density. Heated air is then blown into the mold to soften the low melt fibers to adhere them to the retainer layer and skin. Cool air is then blown into the mold to resolidfy the clusters and form the intermediate layer into its molded shape.
