  • Patent number: 7507368
Abstract: A small hot-air circulation furnace performs continuous treatment using hot air at a fixed temperature. Hot air supplied from a heat source is blown out from an axial-flow fan toward a hearth to form a circulating flow passing through an annular heating-target mount on the rotating hearth. The heating-targets are taken out one by one after increasing the temperature of the heating-target on the mount to a predetermined point during one rotation of the hearth. Further, a partition whose outlet-side opening ?2 is narrower than the inlet-side opening ?1 is provided inside the annular partition to supply part of high-temperature gas blown.

  • Patent number: 5364080
Abstract: A zone controlled furnace for heat-treating of metallic and non-metallic stocks positions one or more modular metallic combustion burners in the furnace chamber and along the path of the stock to selectively control the heat supplied to any zone of the furnace chamber. The burners receive and ignite a high pressure premix of combustible gas and are illustrated by a porous fiber metallic sheet and a jet burner arrangement which discharge flames direct, and a jet nozzle which discharges heated combusted products. The high pressure/velocity flame and products of combustion ejecting from the burners will impinge on the workpieces and generate a very high convective heat transfer rate in a turbulent flow, as well as radiant heat, thereby resulting in uniform heating of non-uniform shaped pieces and maximizing overall heat transfer in the furnace. The apparatus can be controlled to act in a heating mode, or in only a cooling mode, or a combination of modes in any zone for precise temperature control.

  • Patent number: 5297959
Abstract: A high temperature, low NO.sub.x industrial furnace uses coal-fired burners placed in an arcuate heat track conduit which heats an arcuately configured wall member extending through an opening in the heat track conduit. The heated portion of the wall member rotates out of the heat track conduit to indirectly heat a bundle or bank of heat exchange tubes while an unheated wall portion moves into the opening vacated by the heated wall portion. The regenerative heated wall member thus permits the heat exchange tube bundle to be heated to high temperature without exposure to the burner products of combustion. The coal-fired burners are operated substoichiometrically to produce combustibles and a free-standing, jet entrainment arrangement is utilized to achieve staged combustion to avoid NO.sub.x formation.
