Publication number: 20140312551Abstract: I designed the Clamp-it-Once fixture as a work holding device as a better version of an angle plate. Clamp-it-Once is used for grinding, inspection or machining components square. It's design and components are extremely simple and basic, but radically different than other work holding devices currently being used. Because the main block is square without an inside angle or corner, it has more stability, increasing accuracy. The clamps are very close to the work piece providing direct force on the component securing the work piece with superior force. The clamps are inboard of the block eliminating the step of having to switch clamps; for example the grinding of the 2nd side (90 deg. side of a component). Upon release of the clamps, they remain stationary for multiple pieces to be worked on. The Clamp-it-Once fixture is much easier to set-up both the main block and the work piece are lying down fully supported while setting up until it is clamped and secure.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 18, 2014Publication date: October 23, 2014Inventor: Jeffrey Nicholas Kress

Patent number: 6889968Abstract: The present invention relates to a general purpose clamping device. It comprises a straight shank with the lower end attached to a short cylindrical sleeve and a movable arm sliding over the shank. Feeding through the free end of the movable arm is a threaded rod with clamping pad and turning handle at the lower end and upper end respectively. The present invention is designed to hold a workpiece tightly, quickly and conveniently on the working surface of a table, workbench or machine tool. And the invention can be relocated easily over the workbench made of wood or metal, or over the working surface of a machine tool. Attachments are provided to enhance the functionality of the invention. A Y-axis attachment assembly is adapted to being slidably mounted on the straight shank to hold a second workpiece along an axis that is generally perpendicular to the vertical clamping direction of the multi-function clamp.Type: GrantFiled: June 2, 2003Date of Patent: May 10, 2005Assignee: Valtra, Inc.Inventor: Harry Wong

Patent number: 6783299Abstract: A plurality of latches are employed for detachably holding a semiconductor wafer to a ring support during processing. Each latch is rotatably mounted on a post which is secured to the ring so that it can move to engage and disengage the wafer, alternately clamping and releasing it from the ring. Each latch has two opposed rollers, one to engage and disengage the wafer and the other to engage the ring. The latches should be freely rotatable into and out of engagement with the wafer. The ring usually has two pairs of opposed dimples such that each roller is in registration with each of the opposed dimples of each pair when it rotates from the engaged to the disengaged position and visa versa. The dimple in registration with the roller when engaged the wafer is sufficiently deep so that the roller does not touch the ring when clamped to the wafer.Type: GrantFiled: May 2, 2002Date of Patent: August 31, 2004Inventors: Ovadia Meron, Dmitriy Genkin

Patent number: 6715747Abstract: A fixing member (B, N) pierces a screw hole (13b) of a first clamping member (13) and an insertion hole (14c) of a second clamping member (14), and fixes the first and second clamping members (13, 14) to a workbench (12). The position of a workpiece (W) relative to the workbench is determined by utilizing the first and second clamping members (13, 14) fixed to the workbench (12) by the fixing member (B, N). The workpiece (W) moved to a space between a clamping face (13d) of the first clamping member (13) and a flange portion (14b) of the second clamping member (14) is fixed by a fastening member (15).Type: GrantFiled: October 10, 2002Date of Patent: April 6, 2004Inventor: Eikichi Nishimura

Patent number: 6609706Abstract: A work fixing jig for machine tools is attached to a table of the machine tool utilizing a mount bore formed in a work fixing surface of the table for use in fixing work to the table by work fixing means. The jig comprises a jig main body, a generally cylindrical engaging member attached to the jig main body and insertable into the mount bore of the table, a rod movable upward or downward relative to the jig main body and extending through the engaging member, a spring for biasing the rod upward relative to the jig main body, and a cylinder for moving the rod downward against the biasing force of the spring. An elastic ring is fitted around the engaging member for diametrically contracting the lower end portion thereof. The rod has a large-diameter portion for diametrically expanding the lower end portion to bring engaging lugs into engagement with a portion of the table when positioned inside the engaging member.Type: GrantFiled: April 4, 2002Date of Patent: August 26, 2003Assignee: Okuma CorporationInventor: Hidetaka Shibata

Patent number: 6565074Abstract: A rotary clamp having an adjustable pre-stop wherein the rotary clamp includes a linear actuator for transmitting linear motion to a linkage assembly. The linkage assembly converts the linear motion into rotary motion of a clamp arm, wherein the clamp arm moves between a clamped position and an unclamped position. The adjustable pre-stop provides a substantially cylindrical member having a substantially polygonal shaped surface formed on the cylindrical member. The polygonal surface matingly engages a substantially polygonal shaped aperture formed in the housing of the rotary clamp. An eccentric mid-portion of the cylindrical member engages the linkage assembly in the clamped position to prohibit the clamp arm from rotating beyond the clamped position.Type: GrantFiled: June 26, 2001Date of Patent: May 20, 2003Assignee: Norgren Automotive, Inc.Inventor: Timothy Wheeler
