Abstract: A paper feeder includes a resist roller configured to convey a sheet to an image formation unit, a paper feed roller configured to convey a sheet to the resist roller, and a controller configured to control the paper feed roller such that the paper feed roller first conveys a sheet at a first conveying speed and then conveys the sheet while decelerating from the first conveying speed to a second conveying speed slower than the first conveying speed. The controller sets the first and second conveying speeds in advance to speeds which allow the paper feed roller to convey a single sheet by a predetermined conveying amount in a predetermined driving time period. The controller determines a time point to start a deceleration from the first conveying speed to the second conveying speed to allow a sheet to hit the resist roller at the second conveying speed.

Abstract: In order to provide a sheet conveying apparatus and an image forming apparatus capable of alleviating a bumping noise generated between a sheet and an inner guide member when the sheet passes through a curved sheet conveying path, a pair of intermediate conveying rollers is arranged in positions corresponding to both lateral sides in a width direction of the feeding roller and subsidiary feeding roller in a sheet conveyance direction. In addition, the subsidiary intermediate conveying roller abuts on the intermediate conveying roller with an inclination such that the sheet conveyance force is directed to the center of the sheet conveying path in a width direction. As a result, the sheet makes contact with the inner guide member of the facing guide member of the sheet conveying path by undulating the sheet in a width direction when the sheet is extracted and conveyed by the pair of intermediate conveying rollers.

Abstract: A bill discriminating and counting apparatus in which a plurality of bills with different sizes are filled between side hopper members and fed into a transport path by a feeding mechanism. The feeding mechanism comprises a plurality of rollers disposed in a bilaterally symmetrical state. The plurality of rollers are arranged so that, when a distance between the side hopper members is adjusted according to the longitudinal dimension of a bill with the maximum dimension in the longitudinal direction and a bill with the minimum dimension in the longitudinal direction is disposed at a position where the bill is brought into contact with one of the side hopper members, at least a part of the rollers installed on the opposite side of the side hopper member where the bill is brought into contact therewith is brought into contact with the bill. Also, the feeding mechanism comprises a guide member guiding the bill to the inlet of the transport path.

Abstract: A drive transmission mechanism of a sheet transportation apparatus of the present invention comprises an upstream transportation roller gear and a planet gear for transmitting a first driving force from a driving source to the upstream transportation roller gear, and a release mechanism for preventing the upstream transportation roller gear and the planet gear from engaging with each other. The release mechanism prevents the engagement of the planet gear and the upstream transportation roller gear when the driven gear is driven to reversely rotate by a second driving force. The release mechanism prevents the engagement by moving a release member before the planet gear and the driven gear engage with each other. The release mechanism moves the release member by the driven gear being reversely rotated by the second driving force which is a driving force other than the driving source.

Abstract: A drive transmission apparatus includes a sun gear driven by a drive source, a planetary gear, a supporting member that supports the planetary gear capable of revolving around the sun gear in a rotatably engaged state with the sun gear, a driven gear that is engaged with the planetary gear when the planetary gear revolves and moves to an engagement position by the rotation of the sun gear in a first direction, and a rotational force providing unit that provides a rotational force to the driven gear to rotate the sun gear in a second direction opposite to the first direction via the planetary gear when the planetary gear is engaged with the driven gear. When the sun gear is rotated in the second direction by the drive source, the rotational force providing unit blocks the revolution of the planetary gear by rotating the planetary gear via the driven gear.

Abstract: A sheet carrying device includes: a pickup roller sending out a sheet on a sheet mounting tray into a carrying path one sheet at a time; a sheet carrying device rotating the pickup roller; a control section controlling a roller first driving motor; and a carrying delay detecting section detecting delay in sheet carrying carried out by the pickup roller. The control section controls the roller first driving motor, in a case where the delay in the sheet carrying is detected by the carrying delay detecting section, so that (i) the pickup roller once stops and then restarts rotating and (ii) a start-up acceleration of the pickup roller, which start-up acceleration is an acceleration from the restart of rotation to arrival at a predetermined speed, becomes lower than a first start-up acceleration from start of rotation of the pickup roller to arrival at the predetermined speed in a case where there is no delay in the sheet carrying.

Abstract: A sheet carrying device includes a pickup roller sending out a sheet to a carrying path one by one from a document mounting tray, a roller first driving motor rotating the pickup roller, a control section controlling the roller first driving motor, and a slip detecting device detecting whether the pickup roller slips in an amount not less than a predetermined amount in carrying the sheet. Detecting that the pickup roller slips, the control section controls the roller first driving motor to perform a slip-settling operation for decreasing a start-up acceleration of the pickup roller from a time when starting to rotate to a time when reaching a predetermined speed. This allows reliably carrying a sheet and suppressing a decrease in a carrying speed of the sheet in order to prevent a decrease in a speed of a process including sheet carrying, even when the pickup roller slips in feeding the sheet from the sheet mounting tray.

Abstract: An arrangement for the separation of an end sheet (21) from a group of parallel sheets overlapping each other comprises a pair of parallel rotatable rollers, which between themselves form a roller nip, the group of sheets moving in the plane thereof toward the roller nip with heading edges substantially parallel to the rollers, and a first one of the rollers being arranged to rotate in a first direction in order to contact and convey the end sheet (2?) in the feed direction thereof. The second roller is arranged rotatable in the same rotational direction as the first roller. The envelope surface of the first roller has a higher friction coefficient than the second roller. A displacement arrangement is arranged to mutually bias the rollers into contact against each other, and that the rollers are mutually directed for the displacement toward and away from each other.

Abstract: An automatic paper feed apparatus includes a paper pickup roller (21), a paper feed roller (31) and a paper separation device (10). The paper separation device is a compound gear consisting of a first paper separation gear (11) and a second paper separation gear (12). The first and second paper separation gears are rotatably and mutually drivably coupled with each other by the engagement between a projection (13) and a protrusion (14) respectively formed thereon. The paper pickup roller and the paper feed roller are respectively actuated to rotate by the second and first paper separation gears through a paper pickup gear mechanism (23) and a paper feed gear mechanism (33, 34) each mounted on a same shaft and engaged therebetween. At the initial stage, the first paper separation gear drives the second paper separation gear to rotate, and thus the paper pickup roller and the paper feed roller are respectively actuated to rotate by the second and first paper separation gears.

Abstract: A second driven roller that is rotated by following a second driving roller has a larger outer diameter than a first driven roller. A front edge of a recording sheet being lifted up from a first nip contacts the second driven roller, and hence the front edge does not directly hit the first driven roller. The second driven roller rotates at a higher rotational speed than a rotational speed of the first driven roller. The second driven roller gently flips the front edge of the recording sheet which has contacted the second driven roller, and leads the front edge quickly to the first nip. The front edge of the recording sheet is smoothly led to the nip.
