Ball Or Roller Patents (Class 279/22)
  • Patent number: 4781589
Abstract: A clamping arrangement, especially for the clamping or gripping engagement of dental implements, consisting of a receiving sleeve which is rotatably supported in a handpiece and is connected with a rotary drive, which includes at least one rod-shaped elongated clamping element exerting a radially inwardly directed pressure against the shaft of the implement which is inserted into the receiving sleeve because of contact against an inclined track oriented perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the clamping arrangement. The handpiece can pertain to a straight handpiece or to an angled handpiece (elbow) with an angled headpiece.

  • Patent number: 4592560
Abstract: A hand-held device for use in drilling or the like includes a tool holder mounted on a rotating spindle. The tool holder is secured to the spindle so that there is no relative rotation between them. The tool holder has a support ring for securing locking elements in locking engagement within recesses in the spindle. A blocking element secures the support ring against rotation so that the locking engagement is maintained. By releasing the blocking element, the support ring can be rotated releasing the locking elements so that the tool holder can be removed from the spindle.

  • Patent number: 4395051
Abstract: A quick-change holder for a machine tool wherein a nut holding a tool can be attached and detached by a single action. In the quick-change holder of the type, in which the nut charged with the tool can be attached to and detached from a holder body by the radial movements of a plurality of balls which are so loosely fitted in a plurality of radial through-holes formed in the holder body as to be made movable in the radial direction, according to the present invention, the aforementioned holder body is formed with an outwardly diverging conical inner circumference in which a spring having free wire ends with a gap therebetween so as to be compressible radially inwardly is fitted under radially inward compression in an inscribed relationship therewith, and the aforementioned spring is brought into abutment engagement with the balls, when the nut is not inserted, thereby to push the balls outwardly in the radial direction.

  • Patent number: 4309042
Abstract: The quick-change chuck is adapted to be fitted on a shank sleeve fitted is inserted to rotate therewith. A locking nut screws on the locking sleeve and a ball sleeve is carried by the shank sleeve. The ball sleeve has an annular extension piece with locking balls in an annular groove of the locking nut. A connector bush is axially displaceably held on the ball sleeve, is subject to the axial pressure of a spring, and has inner reception part and a substantially frusto-conically converging ramp face. A detent device automatically detains the connector bush in relation to the ball sleeve in its axial release position against self-effected dropping back into the locking position under the action of the spring, and on the introduction of the locking sleeve can be over-ridden with subsequent automatic axial displacement of the connector bush by means of the spring into its locking position.

  • Patent number: 4305597
Abstract: A bi-directional, self-tightening chuck for releasably gripping a tool bit such as a twist drill or the like includes a bit receiving nosepiece having a conical, internal opening formed therein. A control sleeve is rotatably mounted, through a thrust bearing, on the nosepiece and is adjustably connected to a chuck body to enable adjustment of the axial position of the nosepiece relative to the chuck body. Tapered gripping elements, which may take the form of cone-like gripping rollers or wedge-like jaws, are located in the internal opening of the nosepiece and are adapted to forcibly grip the stem portion of the tool bit in response to a hand-tightening adjustment of the control sleeve on the chuck body and further adapted to self-tighten in response to an axially directed thrust force applied to the gripping elements by a torque-responsive cam assembly.

  • Patent number: 4299402
Abstract: A holder for a blade of a saber saw unit, wherein the blade is of the type provided with a pair of opposed side marginal edges and a notch in at least one side marginal edge near the rear end of the blade. The holder includes a support having a slot for receiving the blade and projecting means shiftably mounted on the support near one side margin of the slot for movement across the same and into the notch of the blade when the blade is in the slot to releasably hold the blade in the slot. Bias means holds the projection means in an operative position in the notch of the blade in the slot. A number of embodiments of the holder are disclosed.

  • Patent number: 4263713
Abstract: An apparatus for actuating a tube guide expander device inserted in a tube end and extracting it therefrom subsequent to tube expansion induced by guide-expander actuation. The apparatus includes inner and outer sleeve structures which are independently axially displaceable relative to the tube and guide-expander. The outer sleeve structure is engageable with a first compression structure of the device to secure it and its engaged tube in place during relative axial displacement of a second compression structure of the device.Selectively coupling the inner sleeve structure to the device's second compression structure and axial displacement of both axially compresses a radial expansion element situated between the compression structures and expands the enclosing tube.

  • Patent number: 4111592
Abstract: The multi-zone drilling system consists of a spiral drill provided, over its whole length, with continuous spiral slots and a uniform core diameter, which drill is driven by steel clamps mounted in the bottom portion of the drill chuck and engaging the spiral slot surfaces. The spiral drill is furthermore provided, at its upper end, with an annular slot pin, extractably fixed in an annular slot-locking sleeve; this annular slot-locking sleeve is in turn mounted in a pressure element which is vertically adjustable in a delicately stepped way via a connecting bush, for the purpose of altering the jutting-out length of the drill attachment in the drill chuck.

  • Patent number: 4096807
Abstract: A cargo control restraint shield for use in the container of a trailer truck for weather protection of the cargo, compartmentalization of the cargo and for restraining the cargo and holding it in place. Cables are secured within the container at the upper and lower corners thereof so as to extend from the rear to the front of the container in a taut fashion. Clamps are received on the cables and are movable thereon from front to rear of the container. A flexible rectangular sheet of vinyl material has hooks mounted at the four corners thereof. Two of the hooks are secured to the clamps and two are secured to the lower cables. The clamps lock on the cables against movement of the vinyl sheet away from the cargo but may be released by long levers which hang downwardly from the cables. Long handles are attached to the hooks which are secured to the clamps and may be used to lift the hooks off of the clamps or to place the hooks on the clamps.
