  • Patent number: 12053689
Abstract: A skateboard includes a deck, one or more wheels, and a truck coupled to the deck and to the one or more wheels. The truck has a base plate for coupling to the deck, an axle for coupling to the one or more wheels, and a shaft secured to the base plate at one end, and to the axle at the other end. The shaft is capable of rotational movement with respect to the base plate about a first axis. The axle is capable of rotational movement with respect to the shaft about a second axis. First and second linkages extend from the base plate to the axle. The shaft and the first and second linkages work together to convert a leaning motion of the deck into a turning motion of the axle to control steering of the skateboard during use.

  • Patent number: 11833411
Abstract: A skateboard truck includes a metal bolt called a kingpin and a threaded fastener, called a hex nut, which when combined hold the two main components of a truck together: the baseplate, which is mounted to the bottom surface of the skateboard deck; and the turning part of the truck called the hanger, which is mounted onto the baseplate by means of the kingpin, and affixed tightly into the baseplate by means of a threaded hex nut. Two bushings placed along the shaft of the kingpin and on either side of a flange protruding from the hanger hold the hanger in place by the tightening of the kingpin into the threaded shaft nut fastener. The kingpin is oriented such that a threaded portion of the kingpin (on an end opposite a bolt head portion) is generally facing towards a bottom surface of the skateboard deck.

  • Patent number: 11452930
Abstract: A steering system for a snowboard includes two binding interface pods, one of which may be active and one of which may be passive. Rotation or tilting of a top plate of the active binding interface pod in response to rotation or tilting of the rider's steering foot causes counter-rotation of a steering fin under the rider's steering foot. The passive binding interface pod is responsive via a linkage between the active and passive binding interface pods to cause rotation of a steering fin under the rider's non-steering foot. Coordinated counter-rotation of the steering fins causes the board to turn in the direction of rotation of the rider's steering foot when the steering fins are unaligned. Optionally, both binding pods may be active in steering, i.e. enabling two footed steering.

More particularly, the present invention pertains to skateboard truck with two independently adjustable pivot points that achieve a unique variable turning motion without affecting the skateboard's stability. Additionally, the skateboard truck includes an offset axle that swings towards the direction of the turn, thus shifting the wheels away from the side of the skateboard, eliminating wheel bite, and increasing stability.

  • Patent number: 10265606
Abstract: A truck and a skateboard assembly comprised of two trucks and a deck. The truck of the present invention has three rigid bodies and two degrees of freedom. The three rigid bodies comprise: (1) the deck and baseplate assembly for the skateboard assembly, or the baseplate assembly for the truck; (2) the hanger assembly; and (3) the floating kingpin assembly. The three rigid bodies are joined together by three spherical joints and elastomerically coupled and constrained by elastomeric components. The truck of the present invention provides the combined functionality of deep deck lean, improved steering control over a wider range of speed, improved speed stability, and improved suspension compared to existing skateboard trucks.

  • Patent number: 9975035
Abstract: A bifurcated spring-tethered electric skateboard is bifurcated into a front deck and rear deck with each deck having independently powered wheels. The skateboard has a mounted power source, generating electrical power for a motor that is transmitted to the wheels. A controller is configured to control the speed of the motor, and the wheels. The controller is electrically connected to the motor for direct control, or a wireless transmitter for remote control. A spring assembly connects the decks, creating a spring-tensioned effect between the decks while riding the skateboard. The uneven ride requires that the trucks do not rotate fully. A cable that connects the electrical components can also be damaged from excessive rotation of the trucks. Thus, the skateboard also provides a restriction tab at the bottom surface of the decks that engages the trucks to limit rotations thereof.
