Covers Patents (Class 281/29)
  • Patent number: 6367842
Abstract: A covered binder assembly in accordance with one exemplary embodiment of the present inventions includes a front cover, a rear cover, and a spine connecting the front and rear covers. The front cover has a window assembly including a transparent sheet mounted thereto. The front cover may be transparent to allow the user to see through front cover into the interior of the binder. The transparent sheet spans substantially over the front cover to form a front cover pocket between the cover and the transparent sheet. An opening is extended along a corner between the front cover and the spine to provide access to the front cover pocket. A closure arrangement is provided to facilitate the closing of the opening. A second thin transparent sheet forms a spine pocket between the spine and the second transparent sheet. The opening along the corner between the front cover and the spine also provides access to the spine pocket.

  • Publication number: 20010004151
Abstract: The invention includes novel unibody binder constructions and the process of making same. The binder is composed of two plastic sheets comprising such material as polyvinyl chloride, polyolefin, polypropylene, polyvinyl acetate or other similar plastics. An uncompromised single piece of board or similar rigid material, such as chipboard, microflute board, corrugated board, fiberboard, etc., or a synthetic substrate, is then coated with a glue such as a resin glue, a U.V. adhesive, etc., on both sides and sandwiched between the plastic sheets. This sandwich is then formed into the unibody construction by welding the entire outer perimeter. At the time of welding, the air between the plastic sheets and the board is pressed or vacuumed out. To create the hinges on the binder, the unibody construction is then hydraulically creased to the extent necessary by using three moving blades to provide living hinges.

Abstract: A binder device for holding and protecting papers while having elastic hinges for the addition of additional dividers. The binder device includes a plurality of plates. Each of the plates has a top edge, a bottom edge, a front edge and a back edge. A coupling means removably couples a plurality of plates together. The coupling means includes a plurality of pairs of slots in the plates. Each of the pairs of slots extends into the back edge of the plates. A plurality of binding members removably binds the plates together. Each of the binding members forms a loop. One of the loops is placed in a pair of slots in a first plate and in a corresponding pair of slots in a second plate such that the first and second plates are hingedly coupled together.

  • Patent number: 6213669
Abstract: The present invention provides an inflatable binder which has multiple air pockets which can be inflated by one or more air inlets. The binder is secured closed with a zipper or other enclosure. The material of the binder is a plastic sheet material or the like which provides for a water resistant binder. The inflated binder also provides cushioning to protect contents of the binder if dropped. In one embodiment, the front cover of the binder may have a central flat area surrounded by inflatable areas defining a frame, such that visual materials may be displayed from an inner pocket.

  • Patent number: 6213670
Abstract: The present invention is generally directed to a foldable pocket assembly that is coupled to a cover of a binder along one of the edges of the pocket assembly. The pocket assembly has a first portion and a second portion divided by a fold line. The second portion is foldable along the fold line and adapted to releasably hold in the folded position adjacent to the first portion. Each portions may have a pocket or adapted to hold pencils and pens. As such, the present invention makes more efficient use of the space left between the cover and the papers held in the three ring binder to increase the carrying capacity of the binder. Furthermore, some pockets are not visible so that sensitive items may be more securely held in the hidden pockets.

  • Patent number: 6213516
Abstract: A document presentation folder is formed from a base sheet of stiff material and a front cover. The front cover is formed with an exposed outer sheet of a nonopaque material and an inner sheet that forms a pocket with the outer sheet. The base sheet is folded in articulated fashion to define a spine demarcation and a narrow front cover attachment strip which has an attachment edge. One side of the outer front cover sheet is positioned against and overlaps the portion of the front cover attachment strip immediately adjacent thereto. The outer cover sheet and the front cover attachment strip of the base sheet are attached together by a single, continuous linear heat seal. A title sheet is removably inserted into the pocket defined between the inner and outer sheets of the front cover. A printed indicia on the face of the title sheet is thereby clearly visible through the nonopaque outer sheet of the front cover.

  • Patent number: 6209917
