Abstract: A document binder is formed with front and back covers hinged together in articulated fashion with a spine located therebetween. An overlay is provided across the outer surface of at least the front cover and the spine and is secured by fusion to inner and outer, plastic cover sheets that encapsulate a flat, stiff, front cover core, spine, and back cover core therebetween. A front cover title sheet pocket is defined between the overlay and the outer, plastic cover sheet. The title sheet pocket is of a narrow enough width to readily accommodate title sheets printed on paper of standard width, such as eight and a half inches. The fabrication technique employed allows a title sheet pocket to be created for the front cover of the document binder which snugly confines the title sheet and prevents it from shifting laterally as occurs in conventional devices.

Abstract: A folio is comprised of a sheet of flat, expansive panel stock having a backing region and a document retention region that is folded about a laterally-extending fold or folds against the backing region. The sheet is also folded longitudinally perpendicular to the laterally-extending fold in articulated fashion to define a plurality of panels or leaves. Specifically, the longitudinal folds form a pair of mutually-adjacent interior panels and a pair of side panels. A separate one of the side panels is joined to each of the interior panels by longitudinal side panel delineating folds. Each of the side panels has one bound edge and one unbound edge. The bound edges of the side panels are secured to each other, preferably by means of transition webs that are defined between the side panels and the interior panels. The folio may include a jacket within which the sheet of folded stock forming the interior panels and side panels is encompassed.

Abstract: A puzzle book having a front cover, a back cover, a plurality of pages disposed between the front and back covers, and a puzzle disposed on the exterior side of the front cover. The puzzle is composed of a plurality of interlocking puzzle pieces which are disposed in a cavity formed in the exterior side of the front cover. Each of the puzzle pieces has a portion of a printed image formed thereon and a plurality of interlocking portions. The cavity in which the puzzle pieces are disposed may have a shape defined by an internal perimeter of a border area, and the border area may have a plurality of interlocking portions which mate with the interlocking portions of the puzzle pieces to help hold the puzzle pieces within the cavity when the front cover of the puzzle book is opened. The puzzle book may also be provided with a single sheet of transparent material which covers at least a portion of the puzzle and which is removable from the front cover.

Abstract: A three ring binder includes a spine, front cover and back cover, each of which includes a substantially solid base plate and an outer plastic shell. The spine and front cover each includes a rectangular picture frame, the outer edges of which are aligned with and welded to the bottom and side edges of the spine and cover. A clear plastic membrane is secured to the frame's interior covering the opening in the picture frame. The frame top edges are spaced inwardly and free of the shell to form insert pockets. Display inserts are slidably mounted within the insert pockets defined by the frames. The spine insert includes an upper folded edge. An L-shaped member extends through an opening in the folded edge, and includes an outer pin head. Pulling upwardly on the pin head withdraws the insert. Mount mats of a semi-solid paper are provided in the pockets to receive thin, flexible paper for insertion into the frame pockets. The inserted mat holds the display material with the insert pocket.

Abstract: A file folder has a pocket disposed on one of its surfaces. The edges of the pocket and the file folder are in sheared alignment with each other. A method for manufacturing a file folder having a pocket is disclosed. Adhesive is deposited along several edges of a first web of material which is pressed to a second web of material to join the webs together by the adhesive. The combined materials are cut along one of the edges of adhesive to form a sheet having a pocket. The first and second webs have side edges which are in sheared alignment.

Abstract: A dollhouse activity book with several pages made of a soft durable material. The pages depict rooms in a house. On the pages, pockets and straps can be found into which dollhouse family dolls may be inserted. There is also a family pet that can be moved from room to room and placed on a Velcro strip. The book is constructed in such a manner as to be very portable, with a handle at it's top.

Abstract: A wallet size card book which has been adapted to hold a card having the dimensions of a conventional credit card, and is particularly designed to be carried in the credit card compartment of a wallet or similar size compartment holder. The use of a resin emulsion adhesive, a vinyl acetate ethylene copolymer emulsion, in the card book makes it possible to create a properly formed pocket closed on three sides for holding and protecting the card.

Abstract: A CD-ROM holder suitable for binding. In a preferred embodiment, the CD-ROM is sealed between two vinyl sheets by means of a heat sealing operation. A cardboard spacer is positioned around the CD-ROM in order to limit its movement and to provide a consistent thickness across a majority of the holder. The holder is then gathered with the signatures of the book and bound therewith, after which a portion of the holder is trimmed off in the book trimming operation. One of the heat seal lines on the holder provides a convenient tear line for removing the holder (and hence the CD-ROM) from the bound book.

Abstract: A kit for creating artwork such as sand painting is provided having a front cover, a back cover, and an interposed spine. The spine spaces the front and back cover when folded into a book form. The back cover extends outwardly beyond the front cover when folded and has a container mounted thereon which retains a series of dispensers therein. A booklet is mounted to the inside of one of the covers and an envelope is mounted to the inside of the other cover. A plurality of drawing sheets are provided having a base and a cover sheet. The base has a layer of pressure sensitive adhesive which is removably covered by the cover sheet. The cover sheet has perforations to define a plurality of removable portions. Each dispenser has a plurality of small color particles of a pre-selected color.

Abstract: An identification system is provided for children traveling as a group under the guidance of a teacher. Each child carries an identification tag on a frangible length of bead chain. The tag has first identifying indicia such as an unduplicated number unique to that child and second identifying indicia providing information relating to the group. The name of each child and of the group containing the child is written on an information sheet held by the teacher. A support sheet has a front side with a plurality of pocket members, each defining a device compartment for removably receiving one of the identification tags and its chain and a rear side including a pouch member coextensive with all of the pocket members and defining an information cell therein. An identification sheet is received in the information cell has a plurality of information zones, each bearing the name and biographical information relating to a child.

Abstract: A dual paged printed material storing device (201) that is made up of several transparent sleeves (202). The sleeves are made of two sheets (212, 210) connected to create a bag-shaped cover that is closed on at least three edged portions. The sleeve (202) contains an insertion opening (216) for the insertion of printed material (214). The sleeves are folded in the center in order to create a folder or greeting card type structure as to accommodate a greeting card or other printed material of the like. The sleeves (202) may be permanently binded to a binder type cover (204). They may also be produced in a manner that allows them to be stored and easily removed from a ringed binder. Sleeves (202) for a ringed binder have a tab (222) across the back sheet (210) that contains holes (220).

Abstract: A reusable information carrying folder has a stiffly resiliently flexible plastic cover formed with parallel hinge lines that define a middle panel, first and second side panels on each side of the middle panel and a tab member on a laterally outer edge of the second side panel. The middle, first and second side panels have equal widths and the tab member is relatively narrow. In use, the second side panel folds on the middle panel and the first side panel folds on the second side panel. The tab member is compressed between the first and second side panels. Releasable retainers on an outer face of the second side panel adjacent its hinge line adjacent the middle panel and on an inner race of the first side panel adjacent its lateral outer edge connect together and urge the first side panel toward the second side panel. This compresses the tab member with a mechanical advantage owing to the greater width of the first side panel as compared to the width of the tab member.

Abstract: An expanding file includes an upper cover, a bottom cover and a plurality of plates which are disposed between the upper cover and the bottom cover. A flexible connecting member connects each pair of adjacent upper cover plates and bottom cover. A fastener binder which has a base portion having two ends is fixedly attached to at least one of the upper cover and the bottom cover by way of ultrasonic welding. Deformable extension parts extend from each of the two ends of the base portion such that a document can be securely positioned in the expanding file by extending the two extension parts through holes defined in the document and then pressing the extension parts toward the document.

Abstract: An academic material organizing folder for maintaining academic papers in an organized orientation. The inventive device includes a front cover and a rear cover pivotally mounted together. A plurality of storage pocket pages are mounted between the covers and each include one or more pockets which can store academic assignments. A schedule listing is printed inside the front cover, and the rear cover includes a note pad, a note card storage slot, pre-printed labels for labeling the pockets, and a diskette pocket for storing computer disks to allow organization of all academic materials for a particular class.

In this manner, when a selected card case B is slid out with respect to the corresponding attachment leaf 4 of the holder A, then the selected card case B is made to protrude farther than the other card cases. This then allows the selected card to be easily removed.

Abstract: An envelope includes a transparent sleeve for holding an overhead projector transparency. The envelope further includes at least one transparent flap which is hingedly connected to the sleeve along a long edge thereof. The flap defines a pocket, and a transparent supplemental information sheet or an opaque blocking sheet is inserted into the pocket of the flap for selectively juxtaposing the sheet with the transparency, thereby altering the display.

Abstract: A device and method for the packaging and distribution of sample products to consumers along with a publication, whereby said product samples are enclosed within product sample holders and inserted into a rectangular tube made of transparent plastic material having at least one planar surface. The planar surface of the rectangular tube is then secured against the square binding of a magazine or publication by means of clear adhesive tape, thereby allowing the product samples to be distributed to magazine subscribers or at newsstands.

Abstract: A greeting card album (1) with a plurality of pages (6) for holding, displaying and preserving greeting cards (9). Each page contains a pocket sleeve (7) formed by overlays (20,29) sealed at a top edge (36), bottom edge (37) and outer edge (19) with an opening along an inner edge (25) into which the back leaf of the greeting card (5) can be inserted in a manner so that it can be opened and read without having to remove the card from the album page. Each album page is preferably made of transparent plastic with the pockets formed by heat sealing the edges thereof. The pages can be secured in the album by various means, preferably rings (14,28) through holes (16,31) in the inner portion of pages, such that pages may be added or subtracted as needed or desired. The album may be divided or cataloged into sections as desired by attaching tabs (10,11,12) to the outer edges of pages and marked according to the occasion, such as birthdays, anniversaries and holidays.

Abstract: A holder or packaging arrangement is provided for a compact disk or data storage disk. The packaging arrangement comprises a first pocket piece formed of clear plastic or other transparent material, and a second pocket piece formed of material such as non-woven fiber, the two pocket pieces being joined together along common edges to form a pocket sized to receive a compact disk. The arrangement further includes a panel of stiff material having an aperture formed therein, such as a hard cover of a book or binder for printed material associated with the compact disk. A sheet of heavy paper or like material is affixed to the back side of the panel, the pocket and compact disk being trapped between the panel and the paper so that the compact disk is viewable through the aperture and the transparent material of the first pocket piece.

Abstract: A method for folding printed sheets into a closed, secured outsert including the steps of binding two or more different printed sheets together to form a booklet having a bound edge and a spaced opposite free edge. A first fold is formed in the booklet, parallel to the free edge, to position the free edge between the first fold and the bound edge. One or more additional intermediate folds may also be provided. An adhesive is dispensed onto a section of the booklet and a final fold encloses the free edge and the adhesive to provide a closed, secured outsert. The folds divide the booklet into several panels of approximately equal width, which are substantially superimposed on top of each other. A closed, secured outsert is disclosed. The outsert includes a booklet made from two or more printed sheets which are provided into a number of panels which are then substantially superimposed onto each other.
