Abstract: An indexing system for file folders of the type having a tab along one edge includes a pattern of variable length fields formed on the tab. Each field carries indicia of a size proportionate to the field length. The indicia are visible along the edge of a folder placed in storage. When a series of folders are juxtaposed the indicia combine to form a visual pattern which directs a user's eye to the proper location for removing or replacing a particular folder. The indicia comprise color-coded bars which readily create the visual pattern.
Abstract: A continuous form for making one or more index sheets comprises an elongated strip of material perforated along a first line or a first set of lines transverse to the length of the strip. When the strip is split along the first set of lines a plurality of individual sheets are obtained. At least one sheet is perforated along a second line which is so positioned on such sheet that when it is split along the second line an index sheet of predetermined shape is obtained.
Abstract: A tickler file containing index cards arranged by date and containing data slips filed under the index cards in accordance with the date on the index cards. In order to permit ready access to the data slips in the tickler file by subject matter, rather than by date, the data slips are wider than the index cards and data slips and index cards are stored in a wide sidewise slanted file tray, so that all rest on the bottom and settle against the lower side wall of the file tray. Indicia relating to subject matter is applied to the edge of the data slips which project beyond the index cards. Said indicia can readily be scanned for particular subject matter by riffling the projecting side edges of the data slips.
Abstract: The present invention relates to the field of office file labeling and discloses a label which is less expensive to manufacture and to apply to a normal numeric filing system. The label employs a color-coding system and includes perforations which permit unwanted portions of the label to be removed prior to application. The label is for numeric end-tab filing and is reversible about its central fold-line. Individual digits are rotated 180 degrees with respect to corresponding digits on the opposite side of the fold-line so that the digits are in readable orientation in either the reversed or non-reversed condition.
Abstract: A medical history record filing system including a plurality of attachment sheets for holding medical test records and a plurality of medical record sets. Each medical record set includes a plurality of separable portions and at least one of the plurality of separable portions is adapted to be attached to one of the attachment sheets. The record sets and the attachment sheets are color coded to indicate the type of medical test that is to be performed and recorded. The separable portion of the medical records set that is adapted to be attached to the medical record attachment sheet has provisions for locating the separable portion in a chronological order on the medical record attachment sheet. Each medical record set has provisions for the physician to indicate the type of tests that are to be run, the urgency of the request and other pertinent information. In addition, each medical record set has provisions for the laboratory, or the person that is analyzing the tests to record test data.
Abstract: There is disclosed a multi-layer tape system for applying register marks or other symbols to aligned artwork sheets used in the graphic arts field. In a two-layer system each of two superimposed clear tapes has aligned markings printed thereon. A weak adhesive secures the two tapes together, and the two outer surfaces are coated with a strong adhesive. In a four-layer system, a separator is disposed between a pair of two-layer systems; the separator has holes therein so that the two tape systems can adhere to each other and remain in alignment, contact being made in the regions of the holes. The relative adhesive strengths maintain the system integrity prior to use while also permitting tape separation during use.
